To complement our Summer cover, Steve McCadams recalls in his article the beauty of the area's lakes and favorite fishing spots. "Venturing to Kentucky Lake dwarfed every lake, pothole, farm pond and creek bank I’d ever seen. I’d like to have a picture of my face the first time I glanced out over the awesome waters at Bass Bay near Big Sandy."

Speaking of our cover photo for the new PARIS! Magazine, Buchanan Resort has been a real drawing card for visitors to Henry County for decades, thanks to the hard work by the Buchanan, Williams, Dyer and Robison families which built it from a small operation to the huge resort with many amenities that it is today.

Buchanan Resort has been such a drawing card that it has attracted famous politicians, country stars and Nashville television personalities to come and spend a restful day fishing.

Here is a photo of John Williams playing host to Porter Wagoner, who had a good day fishing, from the looks of it. We've published stories on Buchanan Resort and its history

Today is the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944. Let’s take a few moments and think about the men from right here at Camp Tyson who played an historic—but unheralded—part of D-Day.

You’ve noticed the barrage balloons in the iconic photos of D-Day all your lives.
Many of those were from right here at Camp Tyson. They were launched by the men of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion and manufactured here at Camp Tyson, which was the only barrage balloon training facility in the U.S. The men of the 320th were the only all African-American battalion at D-Day and they were trained here. The barrage balloons played an integral role in the battle and so did the men of the 320th.

Using the specialized training they received at Camp Tyson, the men of the 320th were the first to move off the aircraft carriers, launched from their positions by the balloons attached to their belt.

Let’s bow our heads for the men of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion.

Buchanan Resort has grown into one of our premier resorts on Kentucky Lake. But how many of you remember the 'olden days' when Johnny and his family were first building it? Here is a photo of the original dock at Buchanan's Resort.

You probably noticed our new cover photo, which gives you a look at Buchanan Resort.

We've written several articles about the history of Buchanan Resort, which started in 1946 and has grown and grown into the large enterprise it is now and which has been responsible for much of the popularity of Paris Landing and Kentucky Lake.

This is Johnny Buchanan, who many of you may recognize, in the resort's early days.
Over the decades, Buchanan's has attracted many celebrities, including Porter Wagoner, Travis Tritt, Governor Ned Ray McWherter, Lamar Alexander, Hank Williams, Jr., and more.

One of the most popular articles we have published was the story of how Jay Silverheels helped build the very first hotel at Buchanan's. Jay Silverheels is better known as "Tonto", who appeared in movies and television alongside The Lone Ranger.
