State Line Christian Church
A community of people following Christ and serving in His cause. Services on Sunday at 10:30 EST. We believe that God’s salvation is available to everyone.
We Believe...
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We believe in Jesus’ virgin birth, His sinless life, the miracles He performed and the lessons He taught. We believe what Romans 3:23 says in that “all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We believe Jesus was sent by God to bridge the gulf between man and God and provide a means of salvation for all. Singing was a distinctive feature of worship for the nation of Israel. This musical praise, sometimes accompanied by an instrument, was meant to be a way for the people to exalt God and His faithfulness throughout all generations. Following their miraculous deliverance from the hand of Pharaoh, Moses and the children of God sang praise declaring, 'The LORD reigns forever and ever.' (Exodus 15:18). Now years later and living in the land of promise, Deborah and Barak sang a song to bless the LORD for His mighty work.
Songs are found throughout Scripture and are often a means by which people declare praise to God for something He has done for the worshiper (Psalms 98:5; 101:1; 149:3) or for His faithful character (Psalms 9:11; 105:2). Often the singing of praise was accompanied by a call to worship, in which the people were summoned to offer their praise to God (Judges 5:3; Isaiah 12:5). The singing of praise to God continues to be a distinctive feature in the life of the church (Colossians 3:16). The church is to declare God's wondrous deeds in providing salvation through Christ and His faithful character throughout all generations.

As we prepare for our weekly Sunday gathering, here is a list of those serving this week.

In just a couple of weeks 25 of our church members will be heading out to one of our longest supported missions, Pinehaven Christian Childrens Ranch, in St. Ignatius Montana. These trips are always filled with a lot of hard work to help keep the program running for the children out there. It's also a time filled with sharing the Gospel of Christ Jesus with the children and support staff out there.
Our trip is practically funded, but we could use a little help making up the difference that remains. In the East lobby there is an envelope campaign with envelopes ranging from $5 to $20. If you are led to help give (give more) towards this trip, you can insert your check or cash into the envelope and drop it in the offering plate or giving boxes on June 21st or 28th. The group leaves on July2nd. Thank you all!
Our Wednesday evening Bible Study is canceled for this evening. We will see you all next week!

Gideon is named in Hebrews 11 as one of the great heroes of faith. But when you look at much of his life that's recorded in Scripture, he's kind of timid and not what we might picture as 'the man of valor' that he is called by God.
He's doing his chores at the bottom of a winepress to hide from the neighborhood bullies, the Midianites. He asks for multiple signs from God to ensure him that it's actually God giving him direction. And one of the signs he asks for comes immediately after God shows him one! Lastly, God's first commission for Gideon involves tearing down his families altars to pagan gods, building a new altar to God on the same spot, and then making a burnt offering to God using the very wood that was used to make the pagan altar!
Now, I think that's pretty hilarious personally. God is showing Gideon, his family, and their community that He is the one, true God. But Gideon was very afraid when he followed God's direction. He was afraid what his family would think. He was afraid of how his community might respond. Have you ever felt that way when you stood up for what was right? For what was Godly?
It feels almost natural to be a little scared or timid, but Paul reminds us that God gives us a Spirit not of fear, but of power and boldness. Fear flees in the face of adversity. Boldness stands up to it. The power that faith holds can only be unleashed when we dare to listen to God's Word and surrender to God's will.
What 'pagan altars' do you see that need torn down? Take them down, and replace them with an altar and sacrifice to the one true God.

Gideon put God to the test. Gideon, by placing a fleece on the floor, took matters into his own hands and showed that he did not fully trust God. God had already told him that he would fight on the behalf of His people. Gideon's practice, however, confirmed that he was reluctant to simply take God at His word. The tangible symbol of the wet fleece was a secondary sign of God's faithfulness to confirm His word to the leader He had chosen.
Faced with a far more daunting challenge, Jesus, at the beginning of his earthly ministry, was placed in a situation in which His trust in God's word was challenged (Mt 4:1–11). Satan tempted Jesus to circumvent God's plan and take matters into His own hands. First, after fasting for forty days, Jesus was challenged to turn stones into bread. Jesus, who would soon multiply a meager amount of fish and bread to feed the multitudes, surely had the ability to turn a stone into a piece of bread. But this action would have amounted to a failure to trust that God the Father, in His time and ways, would supply Jesus' needs. Second, Satan tempted Jesus to throw Himself off the highest point of the temple, citing that angels would protect Him. This temptation would have bypassed the God-ordained path for His life, death and victorious resurrection. Third, the King of the universe was tempted to doubt God's word and procure His own path to power and glory.
At each juncture, Jesus refused to test God's word and faithfulness. Instead, relying on the power of God's promises, He rejected Satan and continued to walk in confidence that God would provide. Throughout Jesus' earthly ministry, religious leaders continued to place tests before Jesus in an effort to discount his claims to being the Son of God (Mt 16:1; Mk 10:2). Jesus refused to cater to their demands, while indicating that His public words and deeds were more than enough to show them who He was.
God's Word and His proven faithfulness are a strong foundation for the faith of His people today. Met with the challenges of life in a fallen world, the church need not test God with trivial exercises like Gideon did here. God's people, following the pattern set by Jesus, can stand securely on His Word and His character even in an uncertain future.
