I often base my travel around food. Why? Because food while traveling just hits different. Eating the customary food of a destination helps you fully immerse yourself in the experience. I find that the locals actually LOVE to help you when ordering because they are very proud of their fare.

Oh, and it's typically cheaper and helps you get off the beaten path a bit.
