In helping people cut the cord over the last 3 1/2 years we have found out that smart TV's aren't really that smart. Every time we helps someone cut the cord, we prefer to use a streaming device, even on "smart TV's" , like Roku, Firestick, or Apple TV. Outside of the points listed below in this recent article, installing a streaming device on every TV makes all the TV's interface look the same on every TV and this makes the learning curve of streaming uniform. We also found that people with streaming devices have FAR fewer issues with buffering than people using their smart TV's alone.
