Tower Ranch Alaska started out a hobby and morphed in to a place where I could realize my lifelong dream of being a farmer. Chickens are sort of defenseless.
I know now why you never see farms with just one or two animals. They are addictive in ways city people can't even imagine. Chickens are just the gateway to the madness. Oh sure, it sounds innocent enough, just a couple hens, for some fresh eggs, next thing you know you have an incubator, a brooder and your coop is so crowded you find yourself selling gorgeous birds out of the back of your car. No lambs this year because I had surgery. This is the first time I’ve seen the sheep since about September. They are in the barn to dry for shearing on Sunday. You can’t clip wet wool. Can’t wait to catch a ride to the barn Sunday and see how those fleeces look.

It’s National Sheep Day!! If you know me, you know I love my sheep. I love growing wool and I love creating all kinds clothes, accessories, and household items with the wool that we grow.

I got my project back from the fair. 💜
Had a small break between sessions so of course I popped over to the yarn store. So cute and lots of local or recycled yarns. Fantastic opportunity to support artists.

It’s time to wean the lambs 😊 we have 8 up for discussion. Half are Corriedale cross the other half are Romney cross. There are 5 ewe lambs and 3 ram lambs. A couple moms are up for discussion as well.

ETA New Photo - Jasper - at 60 days he’s nearly as tall as the adults ewes. This ram lamb has some dynamite genes. He is a tall boy, well proportioned, and just look at that face. Corriedale X Romney. Both parents have prize winning fleeces, are easy keepers, and pass those traits along. Located in Palmer.
