Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the America in Bloom Meet & Greet hosted by the Village of Hawthorn Woods, Hawthorn Woods Community Bank, and M/I Homes at Kemper Lakes Golf Club.

It was wonderful to connect with community leaders and welcome America in Bloom National Advisors Alex Pearl and Debbie Hamrick as they visited Hawthorn Woods.

Thank you to everyone involved for showcasing the pride, partnership, and community spirit that make Hawthorn Woods such a special place to call home. 🌸

Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting celebration for the Bangs Lake Outfall Improvements Project in Wauconda.

I was proud to be the only legislator present who supported funding for this important infrastructure project and stormwater projects throughout Lake County which will help reduce flooding for local residents and improve drainage throughout the area. Thank you to everyone involved in making this long-term investment in our community possible! 💧

Our Community Clothing Drive is underway! 👕👖🧥

We're collecting new and gently used clothing, shoes, blankets, backpacks, and other essential items to support local clothing closets and families in need. There is a particular need for men's clothing, as well as new socks, underwear, and hygiene products.

Donations can be dropped off at our district office at 1252 W. Northwest Highway in Palatine through September 12.

Thank you for helping us ensure that members of our community have access to clothing and everyday essentials. Every donation makes a difference! 💙

These past few months, my office has heard from many community leaders and constituents about their confusion and frustration surrounding recent changes to SNAP and Medicaid. This has created challenges for community organizations in effectively providing their services and added barriers for fellow Illinoisans who rely on these support systems.

In an effort to address this confusion and uncertainty, earlier this week my office partnered with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (IDHFS) and the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) for a virtual Lunch and Learn on the impacts of H.R. 1 on Medicaid and SNAP for community-based organizations.

IDHS and IDHFS shared updates to help organizations whose services include supporting individuals with their Medicaid and SNAP benefits. Experts from both departments were also on hand to provide answers to specific questions and address the challenges that community members are facing.

I want to extend my gratitude to IDHS and IDHFS for taking the time to meet with our community organizations, and to thank our community leaders and service providers who made the time to raise their concerns and learn about these changes in order to better support residents across our region.

Another ribbon cutting for the books! I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Clearbrook’s new Hoffman Estates Community Day Services location in May.

It was great to celebrate this important investment in services and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside local leaders, staff, and community members. Congratulations to the entire Clearbrook team on this exciting new chapter and thank you for the incredible work you do for our community every day! 🎉
