Our pups and kittens had the best time yesterday visiting the staff at for a Workplace Wellbeing Day! 🐾

They spent the afternoon making new friends, soaking up all the love they could get, and showing off their wonderful personalities. Experiences like these help our adoptable animals gain confidence, enjoy new environments, and socialize and connect with more members of our community.

Thank you to everyone at Granite Construction for opening your doors and sharing so much love with our rescue pets. Days like these mean the world to the animals in our care, and we are so grateful for partners who help make them possible💛

🐾 Meet our Pet of the Week, Lacey! 🐾

This spunky 7-year-old terrier mix is ready to find her forever home! Lacey came to AFRP after needing emergency surgery to remove a 26-inch shoelace she thought was a snack (which also happens to be how she got her name!).

She's playful, clever, full of personality, and is happiest when she's included in the fun. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she's been attending weekly training classes and is making great progress with her socialization and confidence!

Meet Teddy! 🐾

With his soft, fluffy coat and goofy smile, Teddy is impossible not to adore! This 3-year-old handsome boy is learning that people can be kind and that pets, cuddles, and companionship are some of life’s greatest joys. Once he trusts you, he’ll become your loyal little shadow, and will happily follow you from room to room. While he’s not the type to climb into your lap on his own, he’s happy to be picked up for snuggles and enjoys sharing quiet moments with his favorite person.

Teddy is a wonderfully well-mannered companion and has been an excellent house guest in his foster home. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, non-destructive, and does not struggle with separation anxiety. He loves his walks, enjoys trips to the beach, and is happiest simply spending time with his people.

Teddy can be shy with new people and situations, so he’s looking for a calm, adult-only home with someone willing to give him the time and patience he deserves. This beautiful 4-year-old calico is ready to find her forever home! Frida came to AFRP from Monterey SPCA as a very shy and fearful cat, but with time, patience, and love, she has truly blossomed!

These days, Frida is playful, curious, and great at entertaining herself. She loves spending her days playing, exploring, and keeping an eye on the world around her. While she may be a little reserved when meeting new people, once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines through.
