Sometimes a victory doesn’t look like a victory.
Laughing again. Making a new friend. Spending a full day with your kids. Feeling comfortable enough to talk to someone. Asking for help. Leaving the house. Doing something you thought you had lost.
They may look like small things from the outside.
But to the person experiencing them, they can mean everything.
That’s why we continue creating spaces where those moments can happen.

What’s one small victory you’re proud of?

No responsibilities.
No emails.
No calls.
No “I need to do this first.”
Just one day to do something you genuinely enjoy.
Would you go out on the water? Spend time with your family? Sleep all day? Finally do something you’ve been putting off?

Sometimes it shows up later, in a story we haven’t heard yet.

That’s why every Saturday we offer hot meals, groceries, clothing, and community resources completely free to those who need them in Ventura County.
Because helping also means responding to the real needs of our community.

Catch & Connect is Mission FISH’s signature mentorship initiative — where lived experience becomes leadership. Through one-on-one and group mentorship, veterans, first responders, and their families find connection, community, and healing out on the water. Whether you're casting a line or sharing your story, this is where true healing begins — together.

We currently have two upcoming course dates in October, with additional dates for November and December coming soon.

Yes, we love fishing. 🎣

And those moments can open the door to something we all need: feeling supported and Healing.

Fishing may be where we meet. People are what make the mission.

Which of these four words means the most to you when you think about community?

Between school, work, responsibilities, and everyday life, family time can easily get pushed to the bottom of the list.
But kids grow up. And the moments that seem small today can become the memories we treasure most tomorrow.
Rodger That Kids & I creates opportunities for our heroes and their children to spend time together, learn something new, laugh, and simply enjoy being present with one another.
Because some memories can’t be bought. They have to be lived.
