In 2009, while approximately six months pregnant with my fourth child, I served as a coordinator and designer for the Ventura College Fashion Show. These were the first two original designs I ever presented on a runway.
At the time, I could sew from commercial patterns but had not yet learned to create patterns from my own designs. Elena Garcia Brizuela helped bring my vision to life—and later taught me patternmaking and draping.
This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter: watching something that once existed only in my imagination come alive on the runway. đź’ś

Created in October 2018, this custom mermaid costume was designed to shimmer, stretch, and move beautifully. The sparkling purple bodice flows into a sleek emerald skirt, finished with dramatic scale-textured fins that bring a touch of ocean magic to every step.
