I ran to represent Assembly District 44 (which makes up most of Ventura County) as a California Demo

If Democrats want to cut child poverty, they need to expand the Child Tax Credit.
If Democrats want to meet their climate goals, they need to price carbon.
Senator Joe Manchin III doesn't support these solutions, but Senator Mitt Romney does. My latest in The Hill:
Democrats should be courting Romney, not Manchin On the issues of child poverty and climate change, Democrats have a closer ally across the aisle.

My latest research estimates the budgetary and distributional impacts of legislation Representative Ilhan Omar released on Friday.
Ilhan Omar's Near-UBI Guaranteed Income Bill The House representative's SUPPORT Act tax credit would reach 99.6% of Americans.

New from me in The Hill: The Child Tax Credit expansion and $1,400 checks are some of ARP's most popular and effective policies, and they would have been even better if more UBI-like. Let's keep going with a permanent child allowance and carbon dividend.
The American Rescue Plan was a step toward universal basic income The American Rescue Plan lifted millions out of poverty and charted a new course for economic assistance by emphasizing direct cash relief.
Congratulations to the United for 44 slate on their victory in the ADEM District 44 race. I'm disappointed I won't be representing our district this time around, but I'm grateful and honored to have received support from Democrats across Ventura County. Running for ADEM gave me a deeper knowledge of and appreciation for our community, and I'll continue to do all I can to strengthen Ventura County and advocate for a more pro-environment, anti-poverty Democratic Party. Thank you!

Have you mailed your ballot yet? You should have received it, and it must be postmarked by January 27 (Wednesday) and received by January 30. I'm #40, the last one on the ballot. Thank you for your support!

Two years ago today, I joined my first Citizens Climate Lobby meeting. Since then, I've been an active volunteer promoting its solution to climate change: federal carbon fee-and-dividend legislation. I enjoyed the chance to applaud their approach in their ADEM candidate questionnaire.
See my full response and that from several other candidates in AD37, AD38, and AD44 at their dashboard:

My op-ed in today's VCReporter urges Democratic Party voters to consider the policy stances of ADEM candidates.
POWER TO SPEAK | The most important election you’ve never heard of is happening right now - VC Reporter | Times Media Group Twitter Facebook by Max Ghenis In the next week, Democrats across the state will vote to shape the Democratic Party. California is really blue. President-elect Joe Biden won the state by nearly 30 points, and Democrats have a super-trifecta, with 75 percent of seats in each of the Assembly and Senat...

"Former city councilmember Roseann Mikos, who was on the Community and Economic Development Committee when the committee recommended denying the developer's request earlier this year, also spoke in opposition to the project. According to Mikos, the project has 'too much density to be adjacent to one of the last rural enclaves in Moorpark.'"
The Ventura County Democratic Party endorsed Mikos for Mayor in 2020. If elected, I would ensure Democrats consider housing stances in endorsements.
Moorpark City Council rejects proposed 69-unit development on Los Angeles Avenue The developer can submit a new application for a lower-density project at the site, located at Los Angeles Avenue and Beltramo Ranch Road.

I'm honored to have California YIMBY's sole endorsement for Assembly District 44 delegate. If elected, I'll fight for the Democratic Party to endorse pro-housing leaders across the state.
ADEM 2021 ADEM elections are a great way for YIMBYs to seek elected office and gain a seat at the table to support policies which ultimately lead towards the construction of more affordable homes.

I had the privilege of joining other housing experts today to speak with the Ventura County Leadership Academy about grassroots pro-housing leadership.
Here are the slides I shared about my journey to Ventura County YIMBY, and how I prioritize causes like VC YIMBY to work on: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1b4V5skGwgLJNWrYxr4X_FRe5K2HOmTk8fuK1sxTgOd4
