At Barnes, we vote. We use our voice. We advocate for public education and the children and families we serve!
Our right to vote is hard won. It took centuries of struggle to establish this right.
We build and sustain our democracy with votes. Through our votes, we express what we as citizens think is in our collective interests; we empower officials to act in our name to promote those interests.
Today was an important one but there are more to come! We urge you to also register to vote if you have not yet and exercise this very important right. Public Ed needs all of our voices! โฅ๏ธ๐๐ช Post your voting selfie below!

One of the most common misconceptions about free meal programs is that participation somehow takes resources away from another child. In reality, school meal and summer meal programs are funded based on participation, meaning every meal served helps bring additional federal dollars into our schools and community. When an eligible child receives a free meal, they are not taking from someone else, they are helping strengthen programs, services, and resources that benefit students across the district.

Next new intro of professional teaching staffโโ exciting!! Please join me in a huge welcome to Ms. Kristin Finley who will be joining our Grade 4 Team! She comes to us from Bixby and has tons of experience teaching 4th graders, a perfect fit actually! Sheโs trained already in implementation of Great Expectations (GE) and loves serving kids and families that belong to them! You will see her at every Rams football game and probably lots of other scenes around Owasso. I canโt wait for you to get to know her too-my staff is already impressed!

One of the biggest misconceptions about summer feeding is that families should only participate if they are struggling financially. In reality, summer meal programs are funded based on participation, which means every child who eats with us helps bring federal reimbursement dollars into Owasso to support meals, staff, and program operations without using district funds. Whether your family is facing hardship or could afford dinner anywhere in the world, dining with us helps strengthen the program and ensures we can continue serving children throughout the summer.
