Came in with a couple of issues.
One being the tune.
They adjusted the maf only. VVE was just smoothed.
MAF reading wonky (I believe it’s because there isn’t a bypass valve in the charge pipe and the boost is messing with the reading at part throttle)

So I have it in speed density knocking it out. Just bypassing the maf for now.
Previous tuner stated they didn’t understand why it kept picking up spark knock.
Stated it was carbon build up. lol.
Check the plugs bruh. TR6 with a .036 gap isn’t a boost plug.
You were experiencing spark blow out and the pcm was interpreting that as spark knock.
Any competent tuner should pick that up pretty quickly. Nah, just pull more timing and desensitize the knock sensor that’ll fix it. 🥴🥴

They made 4 pulls on the dyno and made 540hp on 4-5psi and called it good.
Customer pointed out a boost leak. Should’ve been around 8.
Tuner didn’t give a s**t and still charged him. Even though it was a simple fix and it’s part of the gig. It was literally just the brake booster line popped off.
Again, should’ve recognized that something was messed up just by the map readings lol.

So let’s fix it.
Fresh set of Ac Delco R42LTS plugs gapped at .026
Dialed in fuel trims properly.
Dialed in spark tables

Edit: The plugs actually fixed the lower rpm stumble.
Now it’s doesn’t have enough pump or the injectors are just simply too small. fuel flow issue.

Choose your LS swap shop wisely.
Lot’s of make a quick buck “yes” guys out there.
They’ll do anything to make a buck and say yes to installing garbage s**t.
If you’re gonna install garbage s**t, at least do it yourself and don’t pay a professional shop to do it. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve tuned this one before but it’s back for a couple of issues.

87 Toyota
Early 1UZ V8
Stock 5 speed transmission
Holley Terminator X

O2 sensor is bad causing it to overfuel.
Luckily when I tune these, I set the learn and closed loop compensation to around 10% max.
That’s after I tune them.

They come out of the box at 50% compensation.

What’s wrong with the tune?
Oh let me explain.

•First and foremost, the injector data is completely wrong. You cannot just enter what size they are and call it good. Deatschwerks has their injector data publicly available. All you have to do is copy and paste.

•E38 pcm only reads to 63.5lb injectors. To get around that, you need to scale some stuff. So at the moment, It’s not scaled properly.

•Stock VVE tables even though it’s 3 bar? Why swap to a 3 bar map if you’re not even gonna adjust anything?

•VVE is 60+% rich at idle. I didn’t get past that.

•Forced to “MAF only” but fails to realize the VVE still needs to be adjusted. The PCM still references the VVE regardless of what the dynamic airflow is.

•LTFT is turned off.

•Why is the start up airflow at 30g/s? lol. I’ve NEVER had a cammed LS3 require that much air for startup airflow. Because the VE is so fu***ng rich. That’s why.

•Why is the idle at 850 across the board?

•Timing is too hot for pump gas. Probably detonates it’s ass off.

•Appears they just interpolated the timing table down so it’s nice and flat. Hell yea.

•Knock sensors are desensitized. It was probably pinging and they just did that lol.

•Torque management is off on the 6l80. Let’s break s**t. Hell yea.

•Shift Inertia Factor looks like it’s copied from a truck?
It’s worse than the car setup. Why do that?

•Torque converter lock up sequence is stock. So it’ll lug down in 3rd and 4th. Nice.

•Shift scheduling is stock. Awesome.

I run across this s**t all the time.
When shopping for a tuner, ask questions.
Ask if they’re going to put in the proper injector data. If they’re willing to tune your Chinese injectors, they’re just taking money from you. Period.
Ask if they’re gonna adjust the VE tables along with the MAF.
Ask if they’re going to adjust your transmission.

ANY as***le can buy a dyno and make some HP numbers. How does it drive though?

Gearing is a bit steep for a 6l80 lol.
It’ll just fry the tires 1-4
