Organized in 1812, The Ossining Fire Department is rich in Tradition, Pride, & Honor. Our all Volunteer Firefighting force comprised of over 470 members, are one of if not the largest in New York State. The department provides Fire & Rescue Services to our district covering primarily the Village of Ossining & areas of the Town of Ossining. 9 Companies comprise our department staffing 6 Engines, 2

150 Years of Service
Today (June 3rd, 1876) 150 years ago, the Ossining Steamer Company #1 was organized. The origin of its name comes from, you guessed it Ossining’s first “Steamer” Fire Engine purchased for fire protection. The purchase of a Silsby Rotary Steam Fire Engine prompted the companies existance.
The OFD congratulates Steamer (Engine 98) for 150 years of service to the citizens of the Town & Village of Ossining.

As National Police Week comes to a close, and National Emergency Medical Services Week begins, we want to express our gratitude to both OPD & OVAC.
The work of any emergency services unit is truly a team effort, from the spcific agencies personnel to the other local departments that are involved. The end result in any incident is simply the safety of our community and their property. The OFD relies on both the Ossining Police Department & Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps tremendously.
We ask that the Ossining Community joins us in saluting and simply saying “Thank You” to these outstanding Emergency Services Professionals.
