Compost Give Back Day is back!
Join us at Cedar Lane Park on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th. We’ll be handing out compost from 9 am – 12 pm (Friday) and 9a-3pm (Saturday). Your food scraps make this possible. Keep up the good, green work! The event is open to those who participate in our Food Scraps Program sponsored by the Town of Ossining.
All food scraps collected in the Town are now composted locally at Sustainable Materials Management, Inc. in Cortlandt Manor, which turns discarded food scraps into a safe and nutritious soil amendment for gardens, landscaping, and agricultural use. Participants must bring their own bucket (Max 6 gallons).
Not composting yet? Join the composting program by signing up at ossiningcomposts.org

Thank you to all of the exhibitors and vendors that believed in the power of community and were able to attend the Festival - Rain or Shine...you made it.
A Festival is not successful because of any one person; it is often because of the efforts of many and we have many to be grateful for.
Our incredibly supportive Parks and Rec department is fundamental to the Festival and we have tremendous gratitude for the efforts that begin months ahead of the day-of.
Our municipal administrators are also fundamental to the support we receive and help facilitate much of the behind-the scenes process in a way that really make things run smoothly (and legally!), and we also have tremendous gratitude to the resources of the Ossining Police Department in ensuring that folks remained safe and people were kept informed about parking logistics.
To Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corp: thank you for always being at-the-ready (and thank goodness your services were not needed!)
But there is a whole other level of community that we have to thank:
*To our friends of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.., in Northern Westchester who show up ready to help every year at 6am. Somehow you raise the level of cheer under the stressful pre-Festival set-up hours, and then disappear before you even get to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
*To Here Coffee and Beer, who woke up extra early and delivered coffee at 6am for the set-up crew who desperately needed it.
*To John F. Kramer who year after year has provided us with Festival photos. And to Howard Rolls who is our trustworthy drum circle friend.
To Bridget Kenny, Ossining Union Free School Districtteacher and OHS Environmental Club Advisor who has been keeping that Club going and helping kids learn outside of the classroom.
*To the Ossining Boat & Canoe Club who has to deal with our annual shenanigans at the absolute worst time (striped bass season and prepping of the Club for the beginning of the season).
*To the Ossining Youth Bureau: what an incredible positive impact on our community. Incredibly responsive, committed and engaged!
And there were so many more who gave some of their time to fill in gaps. It all mattered and made a difference to the success of the event.
So from all of us, Thank You.
(p.s. please share any special photos that you may have captured with us here! We'd love to see them!)

EARTH DAY FESTIVAL: Transportation, Shuttle Bus and Parking ALERTS!
We don't want you to get frustrated before arriving, so we encourage you to walk down/cycle/board as the most eco-friendly, OR ride Metro North even from one station away for easy in and out access to the Ossining Train Station (festival location).
DO NOT expect to find public parking on the River side of the Ossining Train Station until after 6p on Saturday Night. Please warn anyone you know that might be affected that they should not park overnight (on Friday evening).
We have some handy public parking locations and a Shuttle Bus to Green Ossining's 16th Annual Earth Day Festival!
If you are driving, please park in one of the public lots and either walk or take our Karma Loop shuttle (courtesy of Ossining Recreation and Parks) which stops at the Rec Center lot and Market Square (Spring & Main Street) and will loop from Engel Park back to those locations throughout the day beginning at 11am.
Got an E-Bike? You can roll it into the Festival grounds and park it for free with our friends from Croton E-Bikes. You can find them at Spot #87.
Please do not attempt to park on the river side (West) of the Ossining Train station to avoid limited parking and potential traffic jams.
Below is a handy map that identifies public parking lots and the three Shuttle Bus stops - Engel Park, up Central Avenue to the Caputo Rec Center, to Market Square then back down Central Ave to Engel Park). Note that the Brandreth Lot ( #8 on the Map), is currently closed.
