Hudson, NY – 510 Warren Street Gallery is happy to present the first show of the new year and the first featured artist show of works by Hudson Valley artist Jim Koester in an exhibition titled “Flowers and Forests” beginning Friday, January 5th and continuing until Sunday, January 28th. Please join us for a reception with the artist is scheduled for Saturday, January 6th from 3 to 6 pm.
“Flowers and Forests” will include oil paintings and charcoal drawings depicting orchids, trumpet flowers and the forest at Yosemite National Park. With these subjects at hand, Koester’s approach has both abstract and surreal elements. The paintings exhibit a bold use of color and textural contrasts while pictorial depth is created through multiple layers creating a sense of dimensionality and vibrancy.
Energy and motion are enhanced by the use of bold brushwork creating a rich and dynamic surface.
Koester started painting in 2012 and has been painting at Harvest Studio at Greig Farm over the last two years. He makes his home in Elizaville, NY.
