Leadership is something we grow into through daily habits and reflection.
In this CESA 6 Leadership Insight, Tim shares six habits that help developing leaders strengthen their practice: seek first to understand, ask for help, discover your supports, learn from failure, gather feedback, and express gratitude.
These are simple but powerful reminders that leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about staying curious, connected, and open to growth.
Which habit comes most naturally to you, and which one would you like to strengthen this year?

Summer offers a valuable pause, but it can also be a powerful time to intentionally strengthen connection and recognition across your school teams.
In Episode 382 of the CESA 6 Podcast, βFor the Educators (Strategy),β Ted Neitzke shares research on the realities of the teaching profession, from hours worked to out-of-pocket classroom expenses, and offers a practical challenge for the summer months.
How can we use this season to increase staff engagement and meaningfully recognize educators for the work they have done all year?
The call to action is simple and doable: grab some notecards, a pen, and a few Forever stamps. Small, intentional gestures can have a lasting impact on the people we serve alongside.
Listen to Episode 382 and consider how you might use this summer to reconnect and re-engage your staff!

Happy Flag Day!
Today we celebrate the American flag and the ideals it represents: unity, perseverance, and opportunity.
As educators, we have the unique opportunity to help students understand our nation's history while empowering them to shape its future. Every lesson, conversation, and connection helps prepare the next generation to make a positive impact in their communities.
At CESA 6, we are grateful for the educators and leaders who dedicate themselves to this important work every day. Wishing you a meaningful Flag Day as we reflect on the values that bring us together and inspire us to keep moving forward.
The quality of our relationships is often shaped by the quality of our conversations.
Whether you're leading a team, supporting students, collaborating with colleagues, or connecting with family and friends, these six conversation habits can help you build stronger connections:
βοΈ Be aware of your presence
βοΈ Listen first
βοΈ Seek clarity through curiosity
βοΈ Encourage self-reflection
βοΈ Create accountability
βοΈ Be authentic
Great conversations don't happen by chance. They happen through intentional practice, reflection, and growth.
That's exactly what coaching is designed to support. Coaching isn't just for leaders. It's for anyone who wants to communicate more effectively, build confidence, and strengthen their relationships.
