Florida is updating how insurance complaints are counted—and it’s a positive change for consumers.

Under the new rule, only verified complaints from policyholders will be included, while mediation and routine service requests will no longer be counted. This gives a clearer picture of how insurers are actually performing.

“This ensures exams are based on actual consumer complaints—not routine requests,” said Security First President Melissa Burt DeVriese.
