In the first verse of the song “Riot”, I tell a story about a unarmed black who was murdered by a white police officer. In the chorus, I speak from the perspective of the victim’s family and community battling between the devil in one ear saying, “get revenge & riot”, and the angles in the other ear saying, “make amends”. In the 2nd verse I express how I feel tired of seeing hate crimes and how my faith in God keeps me from making wrong choices. At the end of the day, riots are not the answer! Change starts at home.
