Howdy!! There's still time to register for my IRL creativity class at Maitland Art & History Museums (registration closes April 3, 5pm ET). No need to have any skills or expertise in art. Just show up, be yourself, and be open to trying something new.

Creativity is a form of intelligence that we all posses and can improve. One way to be more creative is to strengthen critical, data-driven, evidence-based thinking. Afterall, you can’t think outside the box if you don’t have a good grasp of the box you’re in (or that you’re even in a box at all).

"Inspired: The Art & Science of Creativity" is a 6-wk class on Saturdays (starting April 13) where we'll explore the latest in how neuroscience, psychology, culture, & other factors affect perception, thinking, & creativity; have Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) discussions about spectacular works in the museum while getting to know interesting people; and get moving and get messy with fun, beginner-friendly drawing, physical movement, & acting exercises to improve skills & confidence in your innate creative abilities.

Here is the next step done, laying in and flattening shadow shapes, for my portrait class with . I’ve never drawn this way, and am finding it’s helping me do the best portrait I’ve ever done and is a slow, calming, meditative process that I’m enjoying.

All that glitters is not gold in “Bullets Revisited” by the amazingly talented Moroccan artist at . I’ve been admiring many of her works online lately and was thrilled to see this larger than life piece during my visit.

Yesterday I went to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC, , and saw a ton of great art (which I’ll probably post tomorrow). , this piece by with wax-covered flowers reminded me of your candle and roses from our Experimental Drawing class with . Goodbye Halloween… it was a blast… but… la dee da… dee da dee da… ‘tis Autumn…

My “self-portrait” WIP from the 2nd session of the amazing Experimental Drawing class taught by at . I’m planning to add something that represents me above the drawings to complete it, but I’m loving it so far. Seeing children being slaughtered en masse and the unimaginable grief of thousands of families, all I could think of was my own children - the ones who exhaust me, but who make me smile even during the darkest of days, and the ones who never had a chance to be born.

Halloween front porch styling is starting to come together… will have more once a few more items arrive… and of course once we get to carving 🎃🕸️ 👻🍬
