Who knew they'd be so attracted to Magnets!
Our Applied Mathmatics and Engineering class, as well as our Science of the Earth and Sky class delved into magnetism this week.

Applied Mathematics and Engineering Design - Today we used our engineering skills to build a magnetic levitator. The challenge was to levitate a toy car using magnets and the maglev. In order for this to work, math skills such as balance and symmetry were used. For living math, we read Seeing Symmetry by Loreen Leedy, to tie it all together.

Science of the Earth and Sky - We discussed the magnetic belts surrounding the Earth. The magnetic force generated in the center of the Earth and how it affects the poles (both North and South) was also discussed. We also got to learn how the North pole is accelerating and moving towards Siberia
