Well... I’ve been gone from this account for a while. But this is what life’s next adventure has taken me.

All I got to say is, chase your dreams. It’s not worth sitting around at a dead end job, or going to school for something you dont want to study.

I started flying back in 2016, and put it off for military, which didn’t work out. After that I went to SLCC->UoU->UVU. Feeling frustrated I finally decided to get back to flying and it was the best decision I have ever made.

If you’re looking for a sign to , this is it. Go for it!

We’re sliding into the new year! Hopefully it goes much smoother than 2020

This point was used as a corral for wild mustangs roaming the mesa top. One time, they were left corralled on the waterless point where they died of thirst within view of the Colorado river 2000’ below. Any guesses on this state park?

The Subway at Zion is one of the most iconic spots in the national park. With its increase in popularity, a permit system had to be implemented to keep the backcountry wild. I highly recommend visiting it in the off season to be able to see it without many other visitors. This trip was over thanksgiving weekend, and it was freezing. We had brought wetsuits and had to break through a layer of ice to get to the top

After going to multiple times, I feel as if it’s overrated, just somewhere everyone goes to for that “photo” (angels landing/narrows). Getting a backcountry permit and exploring Spry definitely revitalized my love for this national park

The small settlement of Cisco, UT was established in 1880 as a service stop for the Union Pacific railroad. With the replacement of train travel with vehicles, the town’s population declined, and ultimately when I-70 was built, the town was completely bypassed. Most of the residents have left, leaving it basically a ghost town. There is still a post office and general store that operates in Cisco.

Medicine in the backcountry is much different than in an urban setting. With my experience as an EMT for 2.5 years, this NOLS course was an eye opener. If you like to adventure a lot, I highly recommend taking a WFA/WFR course to gain the knowledge of how to provide life support in the wild.

Definitely grateful for the great outdoors and all the friends we make along the way during the adventures!

Make sure you have the proper gear and equipment when you go on night hikes. I happened to wander off to Corona Arch without a flashlight or layers, not thinking I would stay too long. This changed as I saw the stars come out and decided to stay longer. I ended up having to rock scramble off the trail and used only my phone light to find my way back to the truck

Planning on a hike tips!!

🏕Plan ahead and prepare🏕

⭐️To prevent getting lost or missing in the wilderness! It is important to plan ahead, prepare and alert your family members about your location! ⭐️

🌿🍃This week, Eric and I were heading out onto the mountain to attempt to find the Box Canyon Rappel. We tried our best to look up locations, review maps, and even used GPS coordinates, but we still ended up getting lost! This is why it is important to leave behind a plan with your local ranger station, friend, or family member.

A few steps to be taken notes 📝
Who: how many people are going with you?
Where: what location you will be exploring?

What: the activities that you will be doing ?

When: your ETA back to service

TIPS FOR THE RESCUE PLAN
who and when to contact search and rescue.

An example of this trip would be:
Eric and Alvin headed to Maple Canyon (Box Canyon) to rappel down. We will be here for 4 hours. If you do not hear back from us in 6 hours, please contact Uinta Forest Rangers.
