On October 18, while celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife at Morton’s Steakhouse in Cleveland, Oregon Fire & Rescue Firefighter/EMT Casey Wojciechowski found himself in the right place at the right time.
During dinner, a gentleman suddenly collapsed. Without hesitation, Casey sprang into action, providing lifesaving CPR until EMS crews arrived. At the time, Casey believed the man’s chances of survival were very slim.
A few months later, Casey received an unexpected phone call from the restaurant manager inviting him back for a special reunion. There, Casey had the opportunity to meet the very man whose life he helped save. (Pictured below)
Last night, Casey was recognized at the Northwest Ohio Safety Council’s 2026 Heroes Banquet for his heroic actions. He was one of many individuals honored during the evening for acts of courage, compassion, and selflessness.
The stories shared throughout the night were truly inspiring and served as a powerful reminder that there are extraordinary people making a difference in our communities every day.
Please join us in congratulating Casey on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud to have him representing Oregon Fire & Rescue both on and off duty.
