Last week students got learn more about the art of making one of New England’s great treats. During an interactive workshop attendees got to try their hand at the technical process of evaporating and filtering Maple sap to create Maple syrup. The workshop was led by our Agroforestry interns from Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and formed part of a series of events leading up to MapleFest happening this Friday 12 April 1pm - 5pm at the Landscape Lab. Students from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies course, Maple: From Tree to Table, joined YLL in sampling some of last year's syrups before heading out into the sugarbush to tap a few Maple trees. Students also got to enjoy some fresh sap after the workshop.

A few pics form our Expanding Allopathic workshop today. Students got to enjoy an afternoon of salve making, beehive touring and discussions on allopathic medicine at the Landscape Lab.

The second session of the Fermentation Intensive hosted in collaboration with focused on Fermentation and Business: Selling microbes in food form. The workshop included engaging conversations on scaling a fermented products business and the cultural narratives that surround the consumption of fermented food. Students in Professor Edward S. Cooke’s Material Literacy seminar got to enjoy a day of greenwood spoon carving out at the Landscape Lab today.
