Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the 64,760 voters who trusted me to lead as a trustee for the Orange Unified School District. As the first African American elected official in the history of the City of Orange, this moment is both humbling and empowering.

This journey would not have been possible without:
• The love and support of my family, who encouraged me every step of the way.
• The dedication of countless volunteers and the brilliance of my strategists. * My Divine Nine family:
• Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. ()
• Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ()
• Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. ()
• Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. ()
• Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. ()
• Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
• Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. ()
• Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
• Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

And finally, to the 100 Black Men of Orange County (), your commitment is a constant reminder that service and leadership can change lives. To the students of Orange USD (), know this: Your dreams are valid, and your potential is limitless. Let this serve as a testament that together, we can achieve greatness.

Happy Kwanzaa!

As we gather to celebrate Kwanzaa, let’s reflect on its profound meaning and purpose. Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966, Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration honoring African heritage, culture, and values. Rooted in the Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles), this holiday emphasizes collective growth, community, and cultural pride.

Day 1: Umoja - Unity
Today, we focus on Umoja, the principle of unity. Umoja reminds us to strive for and maintain unity in our family, community, nation, and race. It’s about coming together to strengthen bonds, resolve conflicts, and work towards shared goals. Unity is the foundation of progress—it empowers us to overcome challenges and build a brighter future for all.

Let’s use this day to reconnect with loved ones, foster understanding, and celebrate our collective strength. Share a moment of gratitude with your family or extend a hand to your community. Together, we can make Umoja a daily practice!

Today, I cast my vote not just for myself, but for my ancestors, especially my mother, who voted for the first time after the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This legislation broke down barriers that had silenced so many voices, giving people like her the right to vote freely.

I’m grateful to the veterans who’ve defended this right, the elders who’ve taught me its importance, and my fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, along with all Divine Nine organizations who champion voting and justice for our communities.

To every campaign volunteer—thank you for your time, effort, and dedication. To my family, friends, and the OUSD community, your support means the world. Serving as your Trustee is an honor I hold deeply, and I remain committed to building a brighter future together.

Today, let’s honor the legacy of those like Fannie Lou Hamer and Medgar Evers, who sacrificed so much for this right. When we vote, we carry their spirits forward. Thank you all for being part of this journey.

As we approach the November election, I’m reminded of the sacrifices made by those who came before us, fighting tirelessly so that we could have the right to cast our ballots. Their battles and determination paved the way for us to have a voice in shaping our communities and our futures.

Voting isn’t just a right; it’s a responsibility and a tribute to the legacy of resilience, courage, and perseverance. Let’s honor that legacy by standing up and making our voices heard.

As Shirley Chisholm once said, “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.”

Let’s implement change. Vote.

My yard sign colors are maroon and white which represent the colors of my cherished alma mater, Morehouse College ().

Founded in 1867, Morehouse College is a prestigious institution known for shaping leaders who excel in various fields. Beyond Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and filmmaker Spike Lee, Morehouse has produced many other accomplished alumni, including Dr. David Satcher, former U.S. Surgeon General; Dr. Benjamin Mays, a legendary educator and civil rights advocate; Dr. Lawrence Carter, Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel; and Maynard Jackson, the first African American mayor of Atlanta; and Senator Raphael Warnock, a prominent pastor and U.S. Senator. These distinguished individuals reflect the college’s unwavering commitment to excellence and leadership across science, education, religion, and government. These distinguished individuals reflect the college’s unwavering commitment to excellence and leadership across science, education, religion, and government.

Like the expectations held by the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated (), excellence is the standard at Morehouse College. I hold myself to the same standard, and as a trustee for the Orange Unified School District, I will work to uphold these ideals, ensuring quality education and strong leadership for our community.

On Election Day, make your voice heard and vote! Vote for me, Dr. Stephen Glass, for Area 7 Trustee, and support Ana Page for Area 3 Trustee (.com) and Sara Pelly for Area 4 Trustee (.com). Together, we can bring excellence to the Orange Unified School District.

Feeling truly blessed as I reflect on my roots in the city of Orange—where I has the privilege to be appointed as an OUSD Trustee and previously served as Activities Director at Orange High School. It was there, at OHS, where I met my wife, Sheryl, a lifelong resident and proud Orange USD alum and educator. Her unwavering dedication to our community inspires me every day.

Together, we’ve raised our family here, worked in this district, and built a life rooted in service to the place we call home. From guiding students to helping shape district policy, I’ve always believed in the power of community and strong leadership to make a lasting difference.

As we continue to work towards a brighter future for Orange, I’m asking for your support. Your donations will help us continue to share this message and strengthen the foundation we’ve built together. Every contribution, big or small, helps us move forward.

Let’s build a better Orange, side by side.

Family is the bedrock of our community, nurturing the minds and spirits of the next generation. As we stand together, let us remember the power of reading and critical thought in shaping our future. Dr. Maya Angelou once said, ‘Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of her deep and continuing needs, is good for her.’ Our commitment to education and critical thinking is essential for building a more informed and empowered society.

Today, on Grandparents Day, I want to honor and celebrate the love, strength, and resilience of my beloved grandparents, Janiever and Andrew. Though my grandfather Andrew passed away before our family’s move to Fresno, California, his legacy of love and protection remained a guiding force for my grandmother as she navigated the challenges of raising a family in difficult times.

My grandmother, Janiever, faced enormous obstacles while living in Malvern, Arkansas. During the era of segregation, the doctrine of “separate but equal” denied African American children fair access to quality education. Schools for Black children were drastically underfunded and under resourced as compared to those for white children, despite the law’s promise of equality. After the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision in 1954, which declared segregated schools unconstitutional, many states, including Arkansas, resisted integration, continuing to offer unequal schooling opportunities.

My grandmother, determined to break this cycle of injustice, made the brave decision to leave Arkansas and move our family to Fresno, California, in search of better opportunities. Her strength ensured that her children, and generations to follow, would have a chance at the education and fairness that had been denied to them in the South.

As I continue my own journey in advocating for education as a school board candidate, I carry the lessons of my family’s struggles with me. The fight for fairness and equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their background, is at the core of what drives me. My campaign is rooted in ensuring that no child is denied the education and chances that my family was denied in Arkansas.

Grandmother and Grandfather, your resilience and love inspire me every day. Thank you for building the foundation of strength, determination, and hope that guides me. Happy Grandparents Day. 💖✨
