Adam and I finally got our copies of our book! So grateful for Adam’s willingness to share his autistic lived experiences. Adam spent two years chatting with me weekly, and his life story this far is presented in our book. It’s an undertaking that has taken many many years from our first conversation about writing a book together to getting the book copies in our hand! Breaking barriers in the field of Psychology! I am so proud of Adam and thankful for his willingness to share his experiences with Autism. By using qualitative methodology (instead of the largely accepted and used quantitative methodology in fields of medicine and psychology) we were able to learn from Adam’s lived experiences of autism, and how these experiences have shaped and impacted his adult life thus far. We integrated and compared Adam’s experiences with 20 other autistic folks who authored autobiographies, and the results have been eye opening to how much of an impact society’s understanding of autism has on an autistic person. Whether you’re an educator or know someone on the spectrum, this book will help you gain insight into autistic experiences and how we can better support the quality of life for autistic folks. Pre-order links below, you will receive your book in a few weeks!

The culmination of the last several years of my work is this book - Understanding the Lived Experiences of Autistic Adults - which I had the privilege to co-author with my friend, Adam, who bared his heart and shared his life story and how autism has impacted his experiences. I wrote this book in a way that both academics and nonacademics can gain insight about the hopes, dreams, aspirations, challenges and life experiences of autistic folks, in a neurodivergent confirming way. I am SO EXCITED to share that our book will officially be in print and on sale January, 2023 with Peter Lang Publishing USA! And even more special to get to make this announcement during Adam’s birth week - please join me in wishing Adam a happy birthday! Please share with anyone who might be interested, and follow us on Social Media for more information on release date, conference book sales, and pre-order links:

How has the pandemic impacted you and your family in relation to diagnosis and treament support?
'Heartbreaking' delays in autism diagnosis and treatment got even worse during pandemic Despite increased public awareness, research advances, and wider insurance coverage for autism therapies, children often wait months — in some cases more than a year — to get an autism diagnosis and begin intervention services.
