Our Manufacturing Day that took place last week was a major success! Over 150 high school students and adult learners visited DBS. We led tours that showcased our manufacturing facility and then they were able to assemble their very own small drawer box to take home. Special thanks to everybody who helped. Provide leadership, support, and training to the work teams on the production floor. The Supervisor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversee the teams in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workplace, product quality, assuring on-time delivery, production flow, optimized labor utilization and costs, training, time clock management, supplies management, discipline issues and corrective action process, and other Production and Administrative functions.
Shift: 12:00pm - 9:00pm, Monday through Friday
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Organize and Train Teams in ensuring all personnel work in a safe and productive manner
• Administer training of teams in maintaining quality production through effective assignment and management of work and material flow during the shift. Observe and help teams learn to take actions to rectify poor quality.
• Focus efforts on critical areas in order to achieve production requirements
• Work with teams to ensure employees are trained and are compliant to standard practices by performing routine audits and conduct necessary corrective action.
• Oversee and train Teams in ensuring that the plant is handed over to the next shift in an acceptable manner and all issues are communicated
• Accountable to ensure the Lean Initiative and a Continuous Improvement mentality is incorporated in the Work Teams
• Lead production teams in meeting their key performance indicators – Quality Metrics and On-time delivery
• Track trends for constant improvement.
• Administer and conduct training, addressing corrective actions in an appropriate and timely manner, through accurate documentation, promotion of a positive work environment, and adherence to the DBS Handbook guidelines.
• Participate in Improvement activities, including Kaizen and 5-S events
• Observe and develop Teams in ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to
• Develop expertise with all equipment and in all processes for all areas of the plant covered
• Train and certify employees in jobs.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Necessary Skills:
• Ability to regularly and customarily exercise independent discretionary authority to make decisions of significance
• Strong ability to organize, observe and oversee work teams
• Strong knowledge of wood products manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated leadership and team building skills
• Demonstrated ability and desire to search for “best processes” to improve production standards
• Expertise with all equipment and processes for all areas of the plant covered including CNC, rough mill, finishing and general woodworking machinery.
• Must be able to work around chemicals and be familiar with HAZMAT guidelines
• Computer skills as they relate to inventory control, MS Word and Excel, Outlook
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to plan and organize.
• Bilingual English – Spanish is greatly preferred.
Education & Experience:
• Associate Degree in Technical Discipline or Significant experience, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years manufacturing experience.
• Prior supervisory experience required.
• Forklift certification required.
Rough Mill Associates are responsible for cutting various dimensions of wood using Saws, Planer/Sander, Molders and Hand Sanders as well as performing Quality Assurance checks throughout the process to ensure premium parts are being produced. The individuals selected for this job will be trained in the majority of the Rough Mill Department.
Day Shift: 5:00am - 1:30pm
• Read and interpret cut-sheets
• Set up and operate the following machinery; Planer, Gang Rip Saw, Sander and Molder
• Yield as much usable material as possible by cutting out the defects
• Select and glue material as required to meet quality requirements.
• Packing material to outsource.
• Troubleshoot machine problems.
• Learn how to find defects in material.
• Stage material for usage for next shift
• Observe all safety rules and regulations.
• General housekeeping of machine and immediate area.
• Must support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
