Our next Saturday Spotlight is… Lily Basta! Lily is a sophomore Writing for Film and Television with a minor in Creative and Cultural Industries. She is originally from Lexington, Massachusetts.
In high school, Lily worked on costumes for the theater department which is what sparked her love and passion for film. She also worked with horses and made a short documentary about them in her senior year of high school. Now, she is well-adapted to California and stays involved on campus through UPB, Chapman on Broadway, and the Chapman Swifities.
Her biggest supporters are her family (especially her parents) and her friends. She feels very lucky to have met so many great people on campus. She looks forward to expanding her screenwriting craft through her feature classes. Her advice is to take life as it comes and to expect the unexpected!

This weeks Saturday Spotlight presents Mariana Velarde-Alvarez! She is currently a junior in the APEx Doctorate of Pharmacy program from San Diego, California! Mariana is the School of Pharmacy Senator in SGA, involved in student government in middle and high school. She is also a supervisor for Chapman's Phone-A-Thon.
Mariana's freshman year roommate, Chelsee, has been her best friend since the day they met. Chelsee is also a stem major so they really support and understand each other and help each other through their struggles! Mariana hopes to matriculate into the pharmacy school and build great connections with her friends, professors, and faculty over at the Rinker Campus! Her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, has become a really great way to get out of my pharmacy program.
Mariana's advice: "Take things one day at a time! It's really easy to get overwhelmed when we view things as a whole, so I say take things as you go!"
