I started this drawing in 2023 and have been working on it intermittently since. I am calling it done because even though I am not completely content with it, I don’t think I can make it better. It is what it is and there’s peace to admitting that.

That being said, I am extremely proud of this drawing. I have shared other artworks that may feel similar, but chronologically this is the first drawing where I began to push contour line, mark making, and negative space alongside traditionally rendered forms. I feel more confident now when pushing different elements of art and the beginning of 2023 is where that started.

Other than art style, this drawing was emotional for me to work on and therefore I need to take breaks from it. I am grateful to have art to help me reflect on my feelings. 🖤

As I worked on this little drawing, I felt inspired by my muse .jordyn ‘s tattoos from and .jibberjabber. I tried to style my drawing’s softness after a tattoo. This was very fun to work on! 🖋️

Contour drawing prep for a bigger idea. Over the years, I’ve become more interested in contour lines and how to best draw them. I think focusing on construction and shape language is the answer!
