Reset Performance Mindset
Working with athletes, individuals, families, and organizations, to develop a winning mindset to overcome mental obstacles in all areas of life.
Athletes: if you're THINKING about every movement while you're competing… you're probably thinking too much.
Where should my feet be?
What if I miss?
Is my form right?
What does coach think?
Don't mess this up.
That's not concentration.
That's overthinking.
The goal of mindset training is to help you move from THINKING about everything…
to CONCENTRATING on the one thing that matters RIGHT NOW.
One cue.
One target.
One breath.
One play.
You've already done the reps.
Now get out of your head and COMPETE. ⚡

The true mark of an athlete isn't what they do when everything is going RIGHT.
It's what they do NEXT when something goes wrong.
Bad call.
Missed shot.
Turnover.
Strikeout.
Bad game.
Loss.
Anyone can feel confident when they're winning.
Great athletes learn how to RESPOND when they're not.
Can you reset?
Can you stay present?
Can you control the next play?
Can you compete when things aren't going your way?
Your response is part of your performance. ⚡

Most athletes want to get better.
But very few slow down long enough to understand WHY they performed the way they did.
They move straight from one practice, game, mistake, or performance to the next.
That's a missed opportunity.
Your experiences don't automatically make you better.
You have to LEARN from them.
What worked?
What didn't?
What did I feel?
What was I thinking?
What do I need to repeat?
What needs to change next time?
That's how experience becomes growth. ⚡
Don't just play the game.
STUDY yourself.

Parents: your athlete can't build their own voice if we're always speaking for them.
We want to help.
So we tell them what to think.
What to say.
How to respond.
What they did wrong.
What they should do next.
But eventually, athletes have to learn to coach THEMSELVES.
What do I think?
What do I need?
What did I learn?
What will I do differently?
How do I respond when things get hard?
That's where ownership starts.
And ownership builds confidence. ⚡
Don't just raise an athlete who can follow instructions.
Help develop one who can THINK, SPEAK, and LEAD for themselves.

One day, you won't be standing next to your athlete.
But your VOICE might be.
The words parents and coaches repeatedly give young athletes can become part of the way they eventually speak to themselves.
After a mistake…
Do they hear:
“I blew it again.”
Or:
“Next play.”
Under pressure…
Do they hear:
“Don't screw this up.”
Or:
“I've prepared for this.”
After a bad game…
Do they hear:
“I disappointed everyone.”
Or:
“One game doesn't define me.”
We're not just coaching performances.
We're helping athletes develop the voice they'll eventually use to coach THEMSELVES.
Choose your words carefully. ⚡
**Parents & coaches: SAVE this — then SEND it to someone who's helping raise or coach an athlete.**

We spend YEARS teaching young athletes how to play their sport.
Technique.
Strength.
Speed.
Strategy.
Conditioning.
But what about teaching them how to handle what happens INSIDE their head?
Pressure.
Mistakes.
Failure.
Negative self-talk.
Lost confidence.
Fear of disappointing people.
We shouldn't wait until an athlete is struggling to teach them these skills.
The mental game should be part of youth sports from the beginning. ⚡
We're not just developing better players.
We're developing PEOPLE.

Athletes: feeling butterflies before you compete doesn't mean you're NOT confident.
It means your body knows something important is about to happen.
The mistake is trying to get rid of the feeling.
Instead of:
“I'm nervous.”
Try:
“My body is getting READY.”
The physical feeling can be similar — but the meaning you give it changes how you respond to it.
You don't need zero nerves to perform well.
You need to know what to DO with them. ⚡

Parents: the ride home is NOT the time for a performance review.
They already know they missed the shot.
They already know they made the mistake.
They already know they didn't play their best.
And there's a good chance they're replaying all of it in their own head.
Your athlete doesn't always need coaching after the game.
Sometimes they need MOM or DAD.
Give them space. Let them process. Let the coach be the coach.
Your relationship with your athlete is bigger than today's performance. ⚡

We talk a lot about what athletes need to LEARN to reach the next level.
But sometimes growth requires something completely different:
UNLEARNING.
Unlearning perfectionism.
Unlearning fear of failure.
Unlearning comparison.
Unlearning negative self-talk.
Unlearning the belief that your performance determines your worth.
Unlearning old habits that no longer serve you.
Because you can't always become the NEXT version of yourself while holding onto everything from the OLD version.
Sometimes progress isn't about adding more.
It's about letting something go. ⚡
**Parents & coaches: SAVE this and SEND it to an athlete who's trying to reach their next level.**
