I am honestly shocked at how well my YouTube shorts are doing! I was so nervous to post but they are getting quite a lot of views! Gotta work on posting those long form videos this week! š³
What my brain sounds like during the brainstorming session š This is not the pretty part of my process, but itās how I begin plotting how Iām going to push my paint. I start to think about my general color palette, if it works or not. I also think about the intuitive part of my process; what I want my abstract background to FEEL like. Once I understand the feeling, I try and execute that with paint strokes.
Here, the concept I have for the feeling is peering out into a new world. Where you are is what you know, and where youāre going is unknown.
I want to use contrasting colors in front of, and behind Deebo, to kind of portray a ādoorwayā or the separation of 2 worlds.
I have no idea if this makes sense to anyone else, but I try and explain it more in paint.
The colors I have planned right now are muted and earthy blue, greens and golds, to compliment Deeboās bronzy/golden fur and eyes.
Iām going to try my best to talk more about my process; itās just kind of all up in my head until itās not but Iām going to try š thanks for watching!

Well itās been one of the most stressful and scariest weeks of my life but we are finally turning a corner for the better so I can breathe a little bit. I worked on this acrylic shadow study yesterday before work to do something for myself; I needed to decompress my mind.
My first baby dog, my soul dog, Mickey had 2 seizures over the weekend. Heās never had a seizure before; it was terrifying, especially because he is 16 years old! He had a bad reaction to the seizure med with another med he was on, so the next 2 days were also scary and exhausting. Luckily heās doing well now, heās only on the new seizure medication and is adjusting. It takes 3-4 weeks for his tiny body to full adjust, so everyday is still a of extra care as he adjusts to the medicine. Heās sensitive to medication as it is and is only about 16 pounds so we are watching over him like a hawk.
Iām so grateful heās starting to do better. Itās still a long road ahead to see how he does on this medication but I am praying for the best and have hope now that I see him on the mend. ā¤ļøāš©¹
Iām also grateful I had a couple hours to myself to paint. I didnāt get to work on my commission or my other personal paintings this week; I just wanted to do something completely mindless. I enjoyed the acrylic study and will continue on with oil paint on her to explore adding a new mysterious and moody feel to my current paintings. I have an idea for the feeling I want but Iām not sure how to execute. This is where play and exploration come into the process.
I started my work week yesterday at the restaurant as well; I havenāt worked out either⦠itās just been a whirlwind but Iām hoping I can slowly inch towards a more normal week next week.
