A Multitude of Bibles - Gateway Seminary This summer I had the opportunity to work with over 1000 Bibles and Bible-adjacent books in the Kuykendall Bible Collection at Gateway Seminary.

The semester is starting anew, and with it, the library hours are changing!

PhD Week, Aug 17-21: 7:30am-7pm, Mon-Fri

Regular Fall semester beginning Aug 24: 8:30am-7pm Mon/Tues/Thurs; 8:30am-5:00pm Weds/Fri

Some fun discoveries in this 1969 French Bible that tell a story. It's unclear the connection, but the owner was actually Dutch, one Lucie Verplancke, and it seems she was in her first year of secondary school at the time ("1.e.M"). The Bible also contains pamphlets of Dutch Roman Catholic devotional questions and a liturgical calendar, and two handwritten notes in Dutch to Lucie from one "Lieve":

Dear Lucie,

Congratulations on your
article. I think it’s
really good and I
hope that many more
people will enjoy it.

pleasant way to pass the time
choosing a “name”.

Just a reminder that the library will be closed May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

The Kuykendall Bible Collection has many idiosynchrasies, including this Bible that changes all the plural pronouns from "you" to "y'all." Wishing all our students a blessed summer break: y'all come back now, ya hear!

Congratulations to all our 2026 graduates! The library staff was priveleged to walk with faculty in commencement and see off the many students whom we helped along the way.

It's the final week of the semester! A reminder that the library is here to help with any and all paper and research needs. Next week, beginning on Monday the 18th, our hours will revert to 9-5, Mon-Fri.
