Last weekend we got to partake in the last event, called Cook & Care, for the November for Neskantaga Fundraiser that Lori from started!
Lori gathered her friends to pull their time and resources together after hearing the Neskantaga community evacuating their homes up North due to the horrendous drinking water conditions! This has been going on for 25+ years. While the new plant is now operational the Canadian government and still have to get a well trained operator for the new water facility so, they are for now, still under a water advisory.
This event was LIVE and we got to make one of Lori's dinner creations by following along with her - a live cooking session, how cool is that?!!
What's even cooler is how Lori adapted her recipe to include plant based options (seen here) and how we got to use my favourite coffee from !!
This is a dish with coffee in the protein rub and leeks, coconut milk, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes with a Lager in the sauce! I used Helles Lager!
Delicious!!
Oh and I put Lori's OG Hot Sauce on top as well and it was amazing!!

It was so lovely to cook with everyone who showed up! Thank you again for your support throughout this entire fundraising campaign to help give support to the Neskantaga community. Remember, while the fundraising may be over, I encourage you all to keep supporting and keep fighting for accountability, change, and a better tomorrow where everyone is truly equal!

This was last Caring Tuesday 's !!

This week for Caring Tuesdays, I am choosing The Hazy Mariner Cloudy IPA to donate on behalf of a local charity. . 🍻 🍻 These were gifted to me from the amazing guy who made this recipe come to life, Mike @beersinghking of IX Poets Brewing with Brunswick Brewing This brew was made in collaboration with @brunswickbierworks which one of the world's top partnership brewing facilities that allows the Canadian market to enjoy beer from other countries super fresh!! They are a definite on my list of places to go visit in TO when it is safe to do so again. For now you can purchase their brews online through Craft Brand Co. at The Bodega. . 🍻 🍻 My first donation will be to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington Region! This is near and dear to Mike as his wife is working on the front lines with people with Alzheimer's! Thank you to her!! It is also near and dear to my heart as my Grandmother had early onset Alzheimer's and passed away from it when I was younger. It is an irreversible disease that destroys brain cells and the quality of life of so many. It is not a normal part of aging. Philanthropy always puts a smile on my face. For all of you who know me, I love to help out where I can. So I thought it may give some good feels to you all too. 🥰 There are so many charities out there that are hurting right now, more so now than ever before. Many places are not on lock down and not allowing volunteers to help out right now or are not able to train new people so, I encourage you all to take a look on the internet to see what is in your surrounding areas that can use a little money right now. Craft beer has, at its roots, been about the community and while we are all trying to help support our local craft beer I was thinking we could extend that further to the local charities in our communities. Every Tuesday, lets call them Caring Tuesdays, we showcase a craft beer that we will not be drinking that night (like we are saving that money) and instead give that to a local charity. You choose which beer and which local cause that you have donated to and help spread the love by showcasing the brewery you are donating on behalf and the charity you have donated to.
