The OIC has been the Not For Profit partner with the City of Oneida, for almost 30 years.

Starting with our $5000 donation in the late 1990's for the Higinbotham Park renovation, that provided funding for the ornamental lights, and ornate benches there. Those item's are incorporated in the OIC logo.

From way back then, to now...the Oneida Barks and Rec Dog Park, the Oneida Community Cats Committee , and the Oneida Rail Trail ....to facilitating this generous Grant from National Grid to create this pocket park downtown.

We are always here to help make Oneida a better place to live, work,or visit.

Those who say it can't be done, are usually interrupted by other's doing it!

Still some fall color at Mt Hope. A fairly nice, and windy fall day. Still time to hear the leaves crunching under your feet!

The Oneida Bark's and Rec dog park has been "winterized"...what does that mean?

The shade sail has been removed, as it wasn't designed to carry any snow load, and the water to the doggie drinking fountains have been shut off.

So don't forget to bring some drinking water for your 4 legged friends.

Also, a "No Smoking" sign has been installed. Please show your respect for all park user's, and protect the health, safety, and cleanliness of all who enjoy this wonderful facility.

A little Oneida Bark's and Rec maintenance today...if you notice a weave pole in each agility area is just a little shorter than the rest, well that's the fix for when they're bent one too many times, or outright broken.

Just a consequence of our enthusiast user's no doubt.

Replaced the gate directions stickers also, they're worn down to almost being invisible.

So new sticker, with a clear vinyl overlay... that should last a while longer.

Next up a little cleaning of the structures.

We love seeing the pictures and videos of the happy "pups" that play here. Those are all the rewards and more, that are needed.

This is how you build community.

Please help keep this project moving! Donate if you can.

Sponsor a Spay!
We are requesting our community’s support with funding to allow us to keep running our Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program this year. Our funding is very close to being depleted after this week's 4 cats.

With your trust and assistance, we have TNR’d 36 cats between 6 colonies since May and have spent almost $6,000. It would not have been possible without your help to get us this far and we Thank You! We want to keep the success going. You know how busy trapping we are, so this situation arose more quickly than expected. We have 3 good months of trapping season left!

Every dollar donated goes towards TNR vet bills. We are actively addressing the overpopulation of feral, stray, and homeless cats. We are an all-volunteer group, and no program administration fees are taken out of funding. We are fixing the problem that affects our entire community and improving the quality of life for all of us including the cats.
We do have additional fundraising activities scheduled for later in August and September, but that won’t help us now!

There are 3 ways to give.
1. Send a check to the Oneida Improvement Committee, write “CATS’ in the memo. Send to PO Box 55, Oneida, NY 13421.
2. Go to/Click on the link: https://www.improveoneida.com/support-our-community/make-a-donation/
3. Contact us directly and we will set a time to connect with you in person!
Your gift will be put to good use starting next week, Every Penny counts!
Thank You in Advance!

Happy Thursday all. Help us manage and maintain/protect the Oneida Bark's and Rec dog park.

Just like your doors at home, the dog park gate's are designed to only open one way. Forcing them in the wrong direction, puts pressure on those self closing hinges, and the hinge post itself.

We made the somewhat whimsical videos below, to demonstrate the proper opening "technique".

Also, the structure's in both agility area's, are for the pup's...not the people. A number of them are not constructed to handle people's weight.

So, be friendly, be helpful...and spread that wisdom as you enjoy this new local treasure.

This was a remarkable get together, with Federal, State, Regional, and local organizations.. that are everything park's, trails, canal's, historic preservation, and tourism related.

Some members of the group enjoyed a guided tour of the Oneida Rail Trail, and the Erie Canal(Empire) trail also.

It was a National showcase of our community. Thanks to the Oneida Community Mansion House for hosting!

The Oneida Bark's and Rec dog park, is almost ready. We realize that we've been saying that for a while, but remember the old saying..."good things come to those who wait".

Signage, and the shade sail are all that remains to be installed.

A shipping fiasco...and a math error on our part, has caused the delay with the shade sail.

That being said, signs below calling out our very generous donor's, as well as the dog park rules.

The Oneida Bark's and Rec dog park, has been a long time coming. We are very excited to share this with you.

Grand opening coming soon...as soon as the availability of our major donor's is confirmed, we'll go public with the date/time.
