Occupational Therapy students in Sam Troiaโ€™s โ€œAdaptive Technology & Modificationโ€ class are spending the summer learning how to design and fabricate custom adaptive devices for patients. About 40 of them recently shared their first open-sourced 3D printed devices and presented plans to improve them for patients with mobility, sight and learning challenges. โฃ

Weโ€™ll be following the class all summer as they push forward existing designs and engineer entirely new devices from scratch.โฃ

DIY is at the heart of OTโ€”a career field thatโ€™s all about building independence. Adding 3D printing in an OTโ€™s toolbelt perfectly illustrates NMCโ€™s focus on training creative, forward-thinking professionals to be advocates for their patients. โฃ

There are lots of great reasons to volunteer for a teaching ultrasound. Spotting a life-threatening condition is ๐‘›๐‘œ๐‘ก usually one of them.

Each year, dozens of expecting moms sign up to let our sonography students practice their hands-on skills. For some, itโ€™s giving back. For others, itโ€™s just a chance to see their baby one more time before giving birth. But this one defied everyoneโ€™s expectations.

Congratulations to mom-Kelsey Kelley, and hats-off to Mandi Tanner, a sonography instructor who's really teaching ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘€๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐ถ๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘’.

The newest student association on campus mobilized volunteers to provide free blood pressure, blood sugar and A1C๐Ÿฉธ screenings during the ๐‚๐ข๐ง๐œ๐จ ๐๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ๐จ๐ŸŽ‰ festival and health fair on May 16.โฃโฃ

Claire is 10, but sheโ€™s already found her superpower. An alumna of our Friends & Family CPR class, this fourth-grader is well qualified to save a life. In fact, it gave her so much confidence, she decided to come back for Stop the Bleed training. What a rockstar!

This is the fourth and final video in our series with Union Bank & Trust. Over the last year, they've partnered with NMC to offer fun, free, on-site CPR training to every employee. We can't thank them enough for being a partner, and letting us document their incredible culture.
