Youโve probably heard about our Barks and Rec program that lets you take a shelter dog out for the day, but did you know you can also take them for an overnight staycation?? Not only does it give them more time away from the shelter, but it gives you an opportunity to learn even more about them to help us find their forever home!
Wishbone hung out with Katie for a few days this week, and she has lots of great feedback!
Hereโs what she had to say:
โThis big hunk of love did well overall! Hereโs some things we found out about Wishbone:
- He was pretty nonreactive to small animals, dogs and people. Met our neighbor kids and other adults on leash and did great!
- He did well with visitors over to the house
- We nicknamed him Pigpen because he loves to roll in mud and turn his white coat brown ๐
- He loved playing with our 4 yr old pittie! Although once he got more comfortable, he wasnโt super into letting her be the large and in charge girl she is used to being ๐คช
- He is pushy with dogs sometimes which we saw (so is our dog!)
- He can be pushy with people too. Some demand barking at us at times. He seemed to do better with structure and boundaries and did okay in a crate. He also quickly understood that the doggy bed was his safe place.
Overall, Wishbone is a sweet goofy hunk of love who will do well with structure and routine.โ
Wishbone is now back at the shelter patiently waiting for his forever family to come find him. Come meet him today!๐

๐ถ You're my best friend ๐ถ
Callie and Ernie were fast friends on their buddy walk yesterday! Callie has been struggling with leash reactivity and can be a bit pushy when she meets other dogs, so our animal support team decided to bring Ernie into the equation. Ernie is pretty tolerant and easygoing with other dogs, so they figured he'd be a good match for her to work on her dog skills. And they were right!
These two enjoyed lots of sniffing and exploring during their buddy walk, and now our team has more info on how they can help Callie be successful in her forever home. ๐ถ๐๐ถ
