Everyone, please meet Applejack! 🍎

This sweet little tabby has a superpower: she'll worm her way straight into your heart before you even know what happened. 🥹 Applejack's love language? A leg rub and the most adorable little chirps you've ever heard. Add a good head scratch and she is absolutely in heaven. She's equally happy snuggled on the couch OR going full kitten-mode on a feather toy.

She did come to us with a hip fracture that healed incorrectly during her time on the streets. But you'd honestly never know it. She gets around fantastically and is in no pain! Her care team at Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center has a monitoring plan in place, and she's doing great. That said, her future adopter should be prepared for the possibility of orthopedic care (like a hip replacement or FHO surgery) down the road, and we want to make sure she lands with someone who's ready for that commitment. 💛 Apply to adopt Applejack at felius.org/adopt

We are SO proud of Maya and Lillianna! 🐱💛 These two incredible Junior Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska from Troop 48154 just earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior can receive! 🏅 They assembled 15 care kits for Felius fosters, filled with everything a cat needs to feel safe and settled in a new home. They fundraised at PetCo, sold friendship bracelets door-to-door, and hosted a school dance to pull it all off! They poured their hearts and souls into this, demonstrating real leadership and compassion for rescue cats. We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with them.

June is and we want to kick things off with a quick update on the next generation of cat adopters: Our first Rescue Rangers cohort!

We are blown away by how this program has taken off and Session 3 is happening TONIGHT! Here's a look at where our Rangers have been so far:

🐈‍⬛ Session 1 kicked everything off with a bang. Our Rangers dove headfirst into the world of cat rescue — learning what it really takes to save a life, why spay/neuter matters, and how shelters, fosters, and communities all work together.

🐈‍⬛ Session 2 took things off-site! Our Rangers visited The Completely Cat Clinic for a behind-the-scenes look at feline veterinary medicine. They explored the x-ray suite, hunted for parasites under microscopes, and watched a full exam from start to finish, including finding a cat's heartbeat. 🩺 Watching these kids start to see themselves as part of the bigger picture of cat care? That's exactly why we built this program. And Jorts did such an amazing job being our live demo cat.

🐈‍⬛ And tonight? Session 3. 🎉 We can't wait to share what's next.

Rescue Rangers is a six-month, once-a-month program where kids don't just learn about cats — they become advocates for them. Every session earns a badge. Every graduate leaves with a community advocacy project to put into practice in their own neighborhood. The future of animal welfare in Omaha is in such good hands. 🧡
