Pray that Godly men and women will step forward to serve in government. If your gift is to encourage, then encourage Godly men and women who are serving in government. If your gift is giving, give generously to Godly candidates and organizations. If your gift is serving or leading, then pray about whether you should seek to enter government service.

Week 5: In the military, there is a term: setting the conditions of the battlefield. It describes the work and preparation done long before the fight. The intentional shaping of the environment makes it ready so that success is possible.
Pray for the men and women serving in our military that they would be strengthened in body, mind and spirit. Ask God to prepare them, protect them, and surround them with leaders and relationships that point them to truth. Pray that in moments of pressure, they would stand firm in courage, conviction, and faith.

Jesus takes solitude seriously. He spent 40 days alone in the wilderness in prayerful submission to God’s redemption plan. In Matthew 14:23, he dismissed the crowd of 5,000 after feeding them— so he could retreat to a mountainside by himself. Over and over, Jesus is showing us that withdrawing to be with God is desirable and beneficial.

In the analogy in Isaiah 64 of God the Father as the Potter, working us like clay... we can imagine this includes firing, glazing, and breaking. There may be parts of us that shine, sections of us that are missing, and purposes we may want to serve, but may no longer be able to provide.
