Questions and concerns like “How do we help eliminate trash and litter around the bus benches?” were raised at the city council meeting on June 4th. 🚏🚌 The answer could be that there are trash receptacles on every Metro Transit bus in Omaha, but drivers would have to stop telling riders that they can’t bring food or drinks with on the bus them. Metro has no rule against bus riders bringing food or drinks on buses.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the Omaha City Council met to review awarding the 2023 bus bench contract to a new, out-of-state vendor, proposed by the Omaha Parks & Recreation Department – more than 16 months after this should have been done. 🚏🚌 This eliminates a reasonable outdoor advertising option for thousands of businesses and organizations across the Metro as well as future political, “now hiring”, event-specific, and other short-term campaigns.
