A tattoo can keep someone from getting hired long after they have changed their life.

Marks tied to past gang involvement, trafficking, or abuse tend to sit on the face, neck, and hands, the places an employer sees first.

Generation Diamond runs the only free laser tattoo removal program of its kind in Nebraska. We take off those visible marks so a person can walk into a job interview or a housing application without their past on display. โœจ

A fresh start should be something you can see. ๐Ÿ’™

This week, a young neighbor stopped by to drop off water for our participants.

His grandparents brought him in to show him what it looks like to think about other people and share what you have.

He picked something our participants reach for every day, especially as the summer heat sets in.

Generation Diamond runs on neighbors who decide to show up, whatever they bring with them. Water, time, a skill, a few dollars. It all reaches someone who needs it.

You might already know someone we can help. ๐Ÿค

Maybe a coworker who just got out and needs a State ID, a driver's license, or a Social Security card before anyone will hire them. Maybe someone in your own family, quietly working to put a hard year behind them.

That is who our door is open for. We help with the paperwork that proves who you are, with applying for work, and with the free tattoo removal that takes a visible barrier off the table. Most of all, a steady place to begin again.

This work moves on word of mouth as much as anything. Tell one person about us, and you may be handing them a first step they could not find on their own.

So pass it along. Send them to 4825 S 25th Street or generationdiamond.org. ๐Ÿ’Ž

South Omaha speaks more than one language, and so do we. ๐ŸŒŽ

Many of the people who walk through our door are more comfortable in Spanish, and language should never be the thing that slows down getting an ID, applying for a job, or asking a hard question.

This neighborhood has always taken care of its own, and we are proud to be one more place where that happens, in whatever words feel like home. ๐Ÿ’Ž

The path to a steadier life rarely starts with a big leap. ๐Ÿ’Ž

It usually starts with one practical step. Updating a resume. Sitting down to talk through what comes next. Asking about the GED. Getting clearer on what kind of work fits the life you are trying to build.

We walk through those early steps with people every week. Sometimes it is information. Sometimes it is encouragement. Sometimes it is just somewhere to begin.

If you have been trying to figure out where to start, start here. 4825 S 25th Street. ๐Ÿ“š

The right outfit can be the difference between getting the job and getting passed over. ๐Ÿ‘”

A lot of the people we serve show up with what they're wearing and not much else.

So we keep a closet stocked with clothes for everyday life, plus the button-downs, slacks, and shoes that make an interview go differently.

It costs nothing. You walk in, you find what fits, you leave ready.Small thing, big difference. ๐Ÿ’Ž

Our doors are open at 4825 S 25th Street.

Try getting a job without an ID. Or an apartment. Or a bank account. ๐Ÿชช

For a lot of the people we serve, life restarts with a problem most of us never think about. No State ID. No birth certificate. No Social Security card.

Without those, the doors to work and housing stay locked, no matter how ready a person is to walk through them.

So we help people recover their paperwork and get their names back on record. It's where a real fresh start often begins.๐Ÿ’Ž

Want to be part of someone's fresh start? It's simpler than you'd guess. ๐Ÿค

Generation Diamond runs on people who show up. Volunteers who sort clothing, help make sandwiches, or sit beside someone working through a job application.

This year alone, we've served more than 1,000 of our neighbors. That happens because the community keeps showing up.

As summer gets going, a few things go a long way:

๐Ÿงด Travel size hygiene products

๐Ÿ‘• Summer and interview clothing

โฐ A couple of weekday hours

If you have time, goods, or just a big circle to tell about us, you're exactly who we're looking for.

A second chance is only as strong as the job that holds it up. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ
Once a participant has food, shelter, and the basics in place, we shift our focus to what comes next. Steady work.

That looks like resume building, help with job applications, online job search guidance, and direct connections to staffing agencies and employers right here in Omaha.

The point is independence. We want every person we serve to reach a place where they no longer need us. ๐Ÿ’Ž

That is how a second chance becomes a lasting one.

Reentry does not begin the day someone walks out of prison. It begins the moment they decide to build something different. ๐Ÿ”‘

Every year, thousands of Nebraskans are released from incarceration. Most of them want the same things we all want. A steady job. A safe place to live. A chance to be more than their past.

That is the work we do at Generation Diamond.
We help with the practical pieces. State IDs, birth certificates, clothing for interviews, transportation, and connections to employers in our community.

Reentry takes time. It takes our whole community. And it works. ๐Ÿ’Ž
