Went out for a quick fix. Know where this is? Took out as much of the tree debris as possible.:)β€πβΌhintβ¦ I told one bystander they would probably need to move while I was working π€
Shout out to Midas 76th & Dodge Omaha, for getting me squeezed in bright and early for an emergency 'screw in the tire' fix. Cleaned up the area while I waited and was able to get to the 9am Flash Trash Mob with 15 min. to spare! There are so many screws, nails and other tire hazards on our streets and parking lots! (probably where this one came from last FTM)

How much rain did we get last night? Wet litter, particularly cardboard and clothing were heavy today! A super cool group of volunteers gathered 16 bags of damp litter and trash. Where does all that siding styrofoam come from? Walnut Hill Elementary and surrounding area (including an abandonded hideout behind trees in the parking lot) are now cleaner and safer! β€πβΌ

Longer post alert: Sometimes it is difficult choosing the locations we feel need the most attention and will have good community engagement. There are quite a few. Right now, we could concentrate on downtown, due to the upcoming CWS. Many volunteer orgs have been encouraged to donate time helping before, during and after, picking up litter and trash. Then, we thought about the periphery. Those areas need attention as well. And then, what about a "StashYourTrash" campaign to help people realize that it is up to all of us to stop creating litter. And then......happened to go past Walnut Hill Elementary School at about 43rd and Hamilton St. Summer school in session. Our next Flash Trash Mob will be there. Unfortunately, there is also a developing encampment area along the Beltline Trailhead area close-by. Watch for our event on FB. our website and instagram. And as always, thank you for all you do in your own way. β€πβΌ

We usually show before and after pictures of littered areas we are working. Today, we have a before and after of the amazing crew of Google volunteers who did a fab job at Spring Lake Park in 60 min. Even they were amazed! Russell found a REAL $5. Awesome! Thanks to Google volunteers for their efforts to create a cleaner, safer environment at this park. The BBP has been here often, but it was heartwarming to hear these volunteers talk about how beautiful the park is. We saw a beautiful heron flying by and the orioles were abundant as were the quacking ducks!
