🚨 Urgent Rescue Update from Ricky’s Ranch 🚨
This morning, June 16, 2026, Ricky’s Ranch Horse, Donkey, and Wild Mustang Sanctuary received a call from a concerned citizen about an abandoned horse standing along the highway in the Fort Drum area.
One of our volunteers responded and was able to safely catch the horse. Because Callie and I are both working our routes in the Boca Raton and Delray Beach area today, another volunteer is using our truck and horse trailer to transport the horse to safety.
The horse is obviously underweight and in poor condition. As soon as it arrives, we will be arranging a veterinary evaluation to determine its immediate medical needs and begin its recovery.
Like many Florida nonprofits, we’re currently experiencing our annual summer slowdown in donations while the costs of feed, hay, veterinary care, and supplies continue every day.
We are asking for your help. Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward veterinary expenses, medications if needed, and the extra feed and hay required to help this horse regain its health.
If you’re able to contribute, please help us give this sweet abandoned horse the care and second chance it deserves.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for supporting animal rescues and sanctuaries.
Ricky’s Ranch, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are fully tax-deductible.

Meet some of the residents of Ricky's Ranch Horse & Donkey Sanctuary. Some old, some not so old. Even one new youngster! ❤️
🐴 Maxine and Julia – our two mustangs, each with their own unique personalities and stories.
🐴 Mud Pie – one of our oldest senior horses and a true ranch favorite.
🫏 Donkey – Mud Pie's inseparable best friend. Where you find one, you'll usually find the other.
🐴 Cookie and Symphony – two retired Standardbred racehorses now enjoying a slower pace of life and the retirement they deserve.
🐴 Junior (aka Ralphie) – our young Florida Cracker c**t. Junior was generously donated to the sanctuary by a registered Florida Cracker horse breeder. Florida Crackers are one of Florida's historic heritage breeds, and we're excited to watch this young guy grow up here at the ranch.
Every horse and donkey at Ricky's Ranch has a unique story. Some are seniors enjoying their golden years, some are retired athletes, some are mustangs, and others simply needed a safe place to call home.
As we enter the summer months, donations traditionally slow down while the cost of feed, hay, veterinary care, and daily upkeep remains constant. The horses and donkeys still need quality care every single day.
If you'd like to help support Maxine, Julia, Mud Pie, Donkey, Cookie, Symphony, Junior, and the rest of our herd, please consider making a donation to Ricky's Ranch. Every dollar goes directly toward feed, hay, veterinary care, and the daily needs of the animals who call our sanctuary home.
Thank you to everyone who supports our mission and helps us provide a safe, loving home for these wonderful horses and donkeys.

Ricky’s Ranch is transitioning from a senior horse sanctuary to a dedicated horse and donkey rescue focused on safe intake, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming.
After years of being contacted for emergency medical cases and end‑of‑life situations we cannot sustainably support, we are refocusing our mission to the work we can do best: providing a safe landing place for equines who need stability, basic care, and a path to a better future.
We take in horses and donkeys who are healthy enough for rehabilitation, training, or sanctuary placement. Our goal is to prevent neglect, reduce abandonment, and give at‑risk equines a second chance through proper care, structure, and compassion.
Ricky’s Ranch remains a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to ethical rescue practices, transparent operations, and responsible stewardship of donor support.
We thank you all for all of your past, present, and continued support!
Maxine, Ralphie, Cookie, Julia, and of course, our Super Senior Mud Pie! And Donkey too.
