Our new book display, “Hope Binds,” showcases varied perspectives and stories that enrich our collective knowledge. The library has spent the past several years working to broaden the voices represented in our collection, with these books demonstrating this effort. Librarian Rudine Sims Bishop described books as mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors—reflecting our experiences, offering new insights, and inviting us into new worlds. This display embodies our hope that any book can serve these functions. The library’s mission is to advance knowledge, foster a sense of belonging and community, and support the success of all our students. We invite you to explore these books and suggest additions to enhance our collection by visiting the link in our bio.

Stewart Library presents, She Started It, a Utah Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibition, featuring winning art from the “She Started It” annual contest hosted by Utah women’s history nonprofit Better Days. Students across Utah in grades 4-12 create original art portraying a woman in Utah history who made a difference in their community. From grandmothers to teachers to mayors and community organizers, women and girls have always been leaders in Utah. Students who participated in this contest are helping spread that message and learning from inspiring new role models.
This exhibition is presented by Better Days and the Utah Women’s History Initiative at the Utah Historical Society.
She Started It will be exhibited until April 15th.
