When someone you love starts becoming dependent on alcohol, it can feel like you are watching them disappear right in front of you.

It hurts.
It’s confusing.
It can make the whole family feel scared, angry, exhausted, and helpless.

But here is the truth: you cannot love someone out of addiction by losing yourself in the process.

If a family member is struggling with alcohol misuse, here are a few things you can do:

Have the hard conversation with love, not shame.
Set healthy boundaries and stick to them.
Do not cover up, make excuses, or ignore the warning signs.
Encourage them to get help from a counselor, support group, doctor, or recovery program.
Protect the children and family members affected by the behavior.
And most importantly — get support for yourself too.

Alcohol misuse does not just affect one person. It impacts the whole family. But silence, shame, and pretending everything is okay only allow the cycle to continue.

You can love them.
You can pray for them.
You can support them.
But you do not have to carry what is destroying you.

Getting help is not giving up on them.
Getting help is choosing healing for the whole family.

If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. You are not alone. 💚

June is National PTSD Awareness Month 💚

PTSD is not a weakness. It is a response to trauma, pain, loss, fear, or experiences that were too heavy to carry alone.

This month, we want to remind our community that healing is possible, support matters, and no one should have to walk through trauma in silence.

For our youth, families, veterans, first responders, and community members who are carrying invisible wounds — you are seen, you are valued, and your story matters.

Prevention is more than talking about substances. It is also about building safe spaces, healthy coping skills, trusted support systems, and hope for the future.

Let’s keep checking on one another.
Let’s keep having real conversations.
Let’s keep leading the way through education. 💚

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, bonus dads, uncles, mentors, and father figures who show up with love, guidance, and strength. 💙

Today, we celebrate the men who lead by example, protect with purpose, and help build strong, safe, and healthy families.

Prevention starts at home — in the conversations we have, the choices we model, and the love we give every day. Thank you for being a steady hand, a listening ear, and a positive influence in the lives of our youth and families.

Wishing all a Happy Father’s Day!

Youth in the Park: Pit Stop for Prevention! 🏁🐯💙

Impact Youth showed up with one goal: to remind our youth that their future is worth protecting. Today’s message was simple but powerful — stay driven by dreams, not drugs!

Through fun activities, prevention resources, and community conversations, youth were encouraged to focus on healthy choices, positive goals, respect, and leadership. Tina the Drug Free Tiger was also there reminding everyone that prevention can be fun, engaging, and full of hope.

Be positive. Stay driven. Make good choices. Be the difference.

Impact Youth is proud to keep leading the way through education.

Community, let’s stay safe in this heat! ☀️💧

With temperatures hitting 106°, it is important that we take care of ourselves, our families, and our neighbors.

Remember to:

💧 Drink plenty of water
🌤️ Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
🧢 Wear light clothing and sunscreen
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, children, and pets
🏠 Visit local cooling locations if you need a safe place to cool down

Heat exhaustion can happen quickly. Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, weakness, or confusion. Do not wait to get help.

Prevention is about protecting our whole community — and today, that means staying cool, hydrated, and looking out for one another.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and check on someone today. 💙
