ποΈ Big conversations are happening about the future of housing in Oceanside.
Oceanside's Planning Commission recently voted to recommend a more measured approach to California's new transit-oriented housing law, SB 79. The goal is to give the city time to evaluate where additional housing near Sprinter stations makes the most sense based on infrastructure, safety, environmental considerations, and community needs.
For Oceanside residents, this means local leaders are working to balance future housing opportunities with thoughtful planning and long-term quality of life.
As our region continues to grow, decisions like these will help shape how neighborhoods evolve, how transit is utilized, and where new housing opportunities may emerge in the years ahead.
The recommendation now moves to the City Council for consideration.

The Vista City Council has approved a phased plan to begin long-awaited safety and traffic improvements along the Emerald Drive corridor, with construction expected to start in the upcoming year π§π΄
The first phase will include new roundabouts, pedestrian safety upgrades, ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps, bike lane striping, landscaped medians, and more, all designed to help calm traffic and improve safety for area residents.
This project has been years in the making, and itβs great to see momentum building toward safer, more connected neighborhoods in Vista.
