Well, I didn’t have the day we had planned for at 70.3 Oceanside, but we had a blast in California!
After taking 24hrs to feel sorry for myself, we did some thinking about the next few weeks and the whole season still to come and concluded that with the virus I caught a few weeks ago, travel and then racing, I was coming up short of the shape I want and need to be in for a strong showing in Texas. We therefore took the tough decision to not start IRONMAN Triathlon Texas this coming weekend. The season is still (very) long and after feeling like I was "chasing" all of last season, this year I want to be proactive now and get a really good block in before I line up to a full distance race!
We made the best of our time in Oceanside: the beaches, LA, La Jolla, San Diego, visiting Cervélo HQ, walks and sailing, all in great company! Thank you so much to Tim and his family for hosting us and making our time in SoCal so special - it is such a privilege to travel the world for these races and we made a real point of making sure we enjoy the ride even when the racing doesn’t go to plan!
We got home early last week and although it’s going to be difficult missing out on the action in Texas, I’m excited at the opportunity of getting some really solid training done over the next few months and making sure I’m ready to win the next race I start at 😉

Well Oceanside didn’t go the way we’d planned for! 😅
Unfortunately I had nothing to give all day and was well off the pace in all three disciplines. I was unlucky to pick up a little bug 3 weeks ago which knocked me off course — and clearly I wasn’t quite recovered, especially with long haul travel chucked in the middle. Timings’s just a bit off!
After a little sit down and cry on the side of the road out of T2, pondering whether or not to keep going, I ultimately decided this wasn’t going to be my first ever DNF 😤 So I rallied and made it around this iconic run course and soaked up the incredible atmosphere!
Focus has been on IM Texas all along; but I’m not afraid of reassessing the plan for the next few weeks if required…
This kind of race is not what I train for and therefore I want to make sure that next time I’m on the start line, it’s to fight at the very front 😉
Anyways, it’s been a blast finally ticking off this bucket list race, being back on a start line in a fresh suit, and I’m sure I’ll be back for a better showing 😎 Thanks for all the support, onwards and upwards!

2026 here we go! Looking forward to kicking off this season at iconic 70.3 Oceanside 🌴 Commentated this race the last two years, and the FOMO has been real, so I’m buzzing to be here and ready to race this course myself!
This should be a proper rust buster, the start list is stacked and these Pro Series races are always full gas!
Since my last race in Nice last September I’ve had a pretty long break and reset, started working with a new coach , been to the wind tunnel with and the track with so I’m excited to see how some of these changes shape up in a race!
Thankful to be kicking off another season happy and healthy and with the support of a great team of people and brands around me! Let’s get this show on the road!

It was very cold in Lanzarote this time around 🥶 So much so, my phone stayed in my pocket most of the time! So here are some photos from December, when we had the usual 25°C, no wind dreamy conditions 😎
Always a pleasure coming back to Club La Santa and getting the work done here at these fantastic facilities 💪

You’d be forgiven to think I only ever train when in Lanzarote! But no, been training consistently and well for the last few months now, getting ready for the start of the season, which is imminent!
Been plenty busy lately. Enjoying some crisp winter mornings at home; a quick trip to HQ in Portland, OR; stocking up on winter fuel 🪵; the return of track sessions 🏃♂️; some testing both in the windtunnel and on the track 🌬️
Overall things going pretty smoothly, few more days here on training camp 🌋, just as 2026 race season is coming up!

Funny how winter training is always easier at ! I always love my stays here and it’s easy to see why: warm days, blue skies, incredible facilities and waffles for breakfast to list a few 😉
A great week of training in the books, plus extra time and energy to trial out some of the other stuff on offer: discovering padel, working on my golf game (new found venture) and even some meditation classes!
Also my first time bringing a gravel bike to the island, opening up a whole new world of roads (I’ve yet to find something the Aspéro-5 can’t handle) and embracing a slower pace of life.
Vitamin-D topped up, mood is high and Christmas is around the corner; perfect timing for a training camp 🏕️
Already planning the next one 😎

Long time no post!
In case you’d missed it, I’ve been enjoying some sunshine and training at this past week. It’s been great to get fully back into the swing of things, and the excitement for next season is really building!
A few changes for me this year, but more about that later 😉
In the meantime, here’s a collection of photos from what has been a rejuvenating off season and overall a lovely autumn at home 🏡
More triathlon stuff coming soon I promise 😎

Couple of weeks on from World Champs and reminiscing with these awesome photos! Off season is in full swing, but the Kona spam from the ladies’ race is already making me look forward to being back on the Big Island in 2026 👀
That being said, the Prom’ in Nice was quite special on the day 🤩

25th at the 2025 World Champs… it’s not always sunshine and rainbows 🌈
Well, I’m glad it’s done. This season has tested me beyond anything before, and the build up to these World Champs has been the toughest of all. I’ve been playing catch up all year and by August, it had all caught up with me. Burnt out, I found myself unable to put in the work required at that critical stage before a big race, and more than once was looking for a way out. But it’s World Champs, it’s once a year and it’s the biggest race in our sport, you have to be there!
Somehow we managed to turn things around in the two weeks leading into the race, and I was able to get myself to a place where I could enjoy race week (and all it has to offer!) and give the race as good a crack as I could.
I’m extremely proud of starting and finishing, and pleasantly surprised by my performance on the day; I just didn’t have the stamina or the mental ability to push any harder or faster, having spent them all months ago. The sport has grown so much and so fast in the last few years, even at your best it’s difficult to compete at the top!
A massive thank you has to go to the people in my corner: friends, family, sponsors, and especially my wife who bears the brunt of it all.
My 2025 season is complete; for the Pro Series, all I can do is watch it unfold. I’m taking some much needed time off before I think about next year (and beyond!). I leave Nice relieved it’s over, and inspired by the performances I got to witness first hand. As well as deeply appreciative of how difficult it was to get four World Champs right in a row. Here’s to many more to come 😉
Thanks so much for your amazing support, see you soon 👋

3 days out from the biggest race of the year… World Champs
Always tricky getting to the start line of these in your best shape and that’s usually the hardest part — this build has had its ups and downs but I’m ready to give it a good old crack on Sunday!
The last 4 World Champs have given me better results than I could ever have dreamed of — it’s a privilege now to be a part of the whole media circus and I’m enjoying every moment of it!
Pretty surreal too getting some last minute training sessions done on course with training buddy .tri, just felt like a casual Wednesday rolling round the Cotswold Water Park!
Few more days to put the feet up and be ready to roll the dice on Sunday 🎲

4 weeks out from World Champs 👀
Still time to make some improvements and the Col de l’Iseran is the perfect place for that 👌 🏔️
