It's that time of year again. Don't splash your dinghy without protection. 😆

Water temperatures are approaching 70f making biological fouling underwater exponentially aggressive.
Sargassum, Coral Worm, Mussels, and Barnacles are just a few of the organisms that make themselves at home on any untreated underwater surface after less than 24 hours of being submerged.

Replacing a "Grouper" dangling anode for protection from electrolytic corrosion, caused by electrolys, or stray electrical current in salt water.
During routine hull service, the port threaded rod, on which the Divers Dream transom plate anode is mounted, was observed to be actively "pinking" or showing signs of dezincification.
A "Grouper" dangling anode is clamped to the port threaded rod for extra protection from stray electrical current in the seawater.
The old anode has burned away after a year and this resulted in the pinking of the port threaded rod.
The problem was corrected by installing a new Grouper anode.
The threaded rod is tied into the ground, as well as the vessels bonding system, making it an appropriate contact point for the anode clamp.

Flex-O-Fold propeller cap replacement before and after.
These propeller caps have a threaded hole where the Flex-O-Fold anode mounts.
Commonly, the threads wear with age, and the anode will fly away while the propeller turns, leaving the expensive propeller unprotected from galvanic corrosion (see scarring and pitting from past corrosion on the hub and blades).
With the new part, a new anode was able to be reinstalled, and a possible haul out was averted, and my client is ready to head to Catalina.
