🎢🤯 When the Fun Meter Is Broken – KIND DOG TRAINING 06/04/2026

Is your dog having the best summer ever… or did their brain just open 72 tabs at once? My June newsletter is out now, and we’re talking fun meter malfunctions, stress zoomies, overarousal, and why “just tire them out” can sometimes backfire. Tiny spoiler: your dog’s nervous system may need a dimmer switch, not another beach day.

🎢🤯 When the Fun Meter Is Broken – KIND DOG TRAINING At first glance, a dog who is running, jumping, barking, spinning, and doing tiny parkour off people’s kneecaps may look like they are having the best day ever. And sometimes they are. But sometimes the fun meter is broken.

Two bowls loaded with meat and cheese. One Hobie. Excellent choices. 🏆

This is an auto leave it: run right past the tiny buffet, ignore the obvious life choices, boop the hand.

No corrections. No intimidation. No “LEAVE IT LEAVE IT LEAVE IT” soundtrack. 📢🚫
Just clean setup, clear criteria, and positive reinforcement making good choices look easy. 🧠✨

Meat and cheese: present.
Hobie’s self-control: also present. 👼

Two dogs. Zero thoughts. Just premium smiles and the kind of joy people spend thousands on wellness retreats trying to achieve.

Happy Sunday from Lukka and Fern! 💛🤎

😬⚡ Anxiety is Contagious. Yes, Even Across Species.

The May newsletter is out. We’re talking anxious dogs, slightly more anxious humans, and why that might not be a coincidence. There’s also a study that might make you feel seen in a mildly uncomfortable way. It’s useful, a little humbling, and surprisingly reassuring....

Hobie is in San Diego, California.

He’s part personal trainer, part shadow, part lizard conspiracy theorist.

He’ll match your every move like it’s a team sport, run like you both forgot something important, and then absolutely black out over a rogue lizard. Training? Solid. Manners? Impressive. Devotion? Slightly intense, in a flattering way. Also happens to do some very fun and cute tricks, which he is extremely proud of.

Best as your one and only pet—people? 10/10. Would like more of them, please. Other animals? respectfully not on the guest list.

If someone you know needs a hilarious, athletic, deeply loyal sidekick… kindly interfere in their life and send them Hobie.

Interested people should reach out via DM. (His mom is also tagged in this post!)

🌍🐾 Different Inputs, Different Outcomes – KIND DOG TRAINING 04/03/2026

April newsletter just dropped. A quick trip to Germany where dogs behave like it’s just… a normal Tuesday, no prong or shock collars in sight, a tiny game that might upgrade your walks, and one very lovable dog currently interviewing humans. Slightly entertaining, mildly educational—worth a read.

🌍🐾 Different Inputs, Different Outcomes – KIND DOG TRAINING Germany banned electronic collars in 2006 under their Animal Welfare Act, based on the principle that training methods must not cause unnecessary pain, suffering, or harm. This standard has since been reinforced and clarified to the point that aversive tools of any kind—including prong, choke, and...

Happy National Puppy Day to two dogs who are legally not puppies but refuse to acknowledge that.

Pollux: ball. just… ball.
If there’s no ball, we invent one. If that fails, we stare at you until one appears.
Dognition says he’s a “Socialite,” which feels like a very polite way of saying “will abandon all dignity for human attention.”

Fern: Harvard graduate energy trapped in a dog body.
Dognition “Expert.” Solves problems. Judges me. Works exclusively for snacks and selective friendships.

They showed up in my life at 4 and 6 months old (Pollux from & Fern from )

Now they’re turning ten.

TEN.

They’ve got their little maintenance updates now. A few creaks, a few quirks.
But then one grabs a toy, the other does something wildly inappropriate, and suddenly it’s 2016 again.

I didn’t notice the moment they stopped being puppies.

I just know I wasn’t ready for it.

🌼🌱 THE GREAT SPRING SNIFF FEST – KIND DOG TRAINING 03/05/2026

The March newsletter is out.

Inside: why spring turns every dog into a slow-moving scent investigator, a simple sniff game to try on your next walk, and a few genuinely useful puppy resources for anyone currently living with a small, adorable chaos machine.

Also included: new San Diego and live online group class dates if you’re looking for structured training support this spring.

If your dog has recently spent several minutes investigating one suspiciously interesting bush, this edition will feel very relatable.

🌼🌱 THE GREAT SPRING SNIFF FEST – KIND DOG TRAINING The section of the canine brain devoted to scent analysis is proportionally enormous. While we see spring in color, dogs experience it in invisible architecture — currents, layers, footnotes.
