One scene changes…
the entire schedule unravels.
So you start again. Rebuilding stripboards, fixing breakdowns, chasing updates across tools—and burning hours you don’t have.
SmartSlate was built for that moment.
See how to update a production schedule in minutes when scenes change—without rebuilding everything and without jumping between five different tools.
This is a quick, live demo. No fluff. Just how it actually works.
Bring a scene or short script. If there’s time, and you're selected, we’ll run it LIVE in the software and give you 30 days access*.

One of the biggest expenses on any film set isn’t cameras or locations.
It’s food.
Keeping cast and crew fed every day means tracking headcount, managing meals, and making sure nothing gets missed. When that process is messy, budgets slip and production slows down.
SmartSlate now solves that.
Introducing the Catering & Crafty Management Module inside SmartSlate.
Track daily headcounts.
Plan breakfast, lunch, dinner, and crafty.
Adjust counts for cast, crew, and extras.
Generate instant catering reports for production.
No spreadsheets.
No guesswork.
No last-minute chaos on set.
Production management should be simple.
SmartSlate keeps your schedule, budget, and now your catering organized in one place.

Smart production isn’t just about writing scripts. It’s about controlling time and money.
That’s why SmartSlate was built differently.
Most production tools stop at call sheets and scheduling. SmartSlate goes further.
What makes SmartSlate different from StudioBinder:
• Built-in Production Budgeting – Track real costs, plan departments, and manage spending inside the same system you schedule your film. No jumping between software.
• Episode-Based Scheduling – Producing a series or vertical drama? Schedule all episodes together or schedule each episode individually. Shoot Episode 1 and 4 on the same day if needed. The system adapts to real production workflows.
• Full Production Pipeline – Script breakdowns, stripboards, scheduling, DOOD reports, and budgeting all in one place.
For features, series, shorts, and streaming productions, SmartSlate gives producers the flexibility traditional tools don’t.
Production moves fast. Your software should too.

Most productions don’t fall apart because of bad scripts.
They fall apart because of bad planning.
If your breakdown is messy…
Your schedule will be messy.
If your schedule is messy…
Your budget bleeds.
SmartSlate gives filmmakers what the big studios use:
✔ Script Breakdowns
✔ Stripboards
✔ Shooting Schedules
✔ Budget Tracking
✔ DOODs
✔ Production Organization
Stop managing your film in spreadsheets.
Start running it like a real production.

This tutorial will guide you through the process of importing your script and performing a comprehensive breakdown using SmartSlate Production software.
Importing Your Script:
1. Open SmartSlate and navigate to the "Import" or "File" menu, then select "Import Script."
2. Choose the script file format that you are using (e.g., PDF, DOCX, or screenplay format).
3. Select the script file from your computer. SmartSlate will then parse the script and organize the information.
Script Breakdown:
1. Once the script is imported, SmartSlate will display the scene breakdowns.
2. You can then customize the breakdown to include details such as:
* Characters involved in each scene
* Locations
* Props
* Special effects
* Vehicles
* Any other relevant information
3. After the breakdown is complete, you can generate reports, schedules, and stripboards based on the data.
