Some of my favorite memories from living in California were the little roadside flower stands, local farmers markets, and the handwritten signs that said “Fresh Cut Flowers” 🌻💐
You could drive down the road and always find someone selling beautiful bouquets straight from their garden or farm. There was just something special about filling your home with flowers that had a story behind them.
So now I’m on the hunt 👀
Does anyone know of local flower farms, roadside stands, farmers markets, or small businesses selling fresh cut wildflowers and sunflowers? I’d much rather support local growers than buy grocery store bouquets.

People see the finished post, but behind the scenes it’s me moving plates around, chasing the best lighting in a busy restaurant, fixing garnishes, wiping plates, and trying not to eat the food before I finish taking pictures 😂
One of my favorite things about working with local restaurants is capturing the REAL atmosphere and comfort food people actually crave. Terry’s has that hometown bar & grill energy that makes people keep coming back. Big portions, good people, cold drinks, and food that speaks for itself.
Content days like this remind me that social media for small businesses should feel authentic, not overly staged. The goal is making people stop scrolling and say:
“Okay… now I’m hungry.” 🤤

You cannot pour creativity from an empty cup. ❤️
Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself, your mental health, and your business is step away from the computer for a little while and enjoy real life.
So this weekend hubby and I snuck away to Los Magueyes for margaritas, good food, and a quick reset before another busy week of content creation, client work, and small business chaos. 🍹🌮
And honestly? Some of the best marketing ideas happen when you finally relax for five minutes. 😅✨

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸❤️
Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and service that allows us to live the lives we do every day.
Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and love-filled Memorial Day surrounded by the people who matter most. ❤️
Trying to grow a small business while still working a full-time or part-time job? You are not alone. ❤️
A lot of small business owners are building their dreams in the middle of real life. Answering client messages before shifts, creating content late at night, brainstorming marketing ideas in the car, and trying to grow something meaningful with whatever free time they have left.
For me, that looks like working at Terry’s while also building Carruthers Creative behind the scenes. Some days it’s exhausting balancing work, social media marketing, content creation, branding, client requests, and everyday life… but watching something slowly grow because of your own consistency makes it worth it.
Small businesses are not built overnight. They’re built through hard work, community support, late nights, coffee runs, and continuing to show up even when nobody sees the behind-the-scenes effort yet.
So if you’re a small business owner, content creator, entrepreneur, side hustler, or creative trying to grow your brand while working another job… keep going. Your consistency matters more than perfection. ✨

One of the biggest things I’ve learned working with small businesses is this:
A loyal community of 40 engaged people will ALWAYS be more valuable than 4,000 followers who never interact.
Don’t get discouraged if your posts aren’t going viral overnight.
The local businesses growing the strongest right now are usually the ones consistently showing up, talking to their audience, responding to comments, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, and staying visible even when engagement feels slow.
And honestly? Instead of spending hours scrolling and comparing yourself to everybody else online… spend that time posting about YOUR business.
Post the new product.
Post the messy middle.
Post the lunch special.
Post the restock.
Post the story.
Post the progress.
You never know which post is going to connect with somebody and turn them into a loyal customer.
Your people are finding you one post at a time ❤️

Friendly reminder from your local small business hype girl 👏💕
You do NOT need a million followers, fancy equipment, or a perfectly curated feed to grow your business.
People connect with REAL people.
Show your face.
Show your process.
Show the behind-the-scenes.
Reply to comments.
Talk to your customers like humans instead of sales targets.
The businesses that build loyal communities online aren’t always the “perfect” ones…
they’re the ones that make people feel connected, welcomed, and seen.
Social media shouldn’t just be about criticizing businesses for what they’re NOT doing.
It should also be about helping people understand what they CAN do better. ❤️
That’s the energy I’m trying to bring into Ocala’s small business community.
