The Dandelion Project
The Dandelion Project is dedicated to my children. Our "mission"- is to help grieving families DJ was 1 in 4. Quinn was 1 in 4. She was 18. Kerri was 26 years old.
The Dandelion Project's Mission Statement is: "To provide support, education and resources to those who have suffered losses, are raising grandchildren, educating our youngest victims and helping those struggling with mental health issues including Substance Use Disorder, navigate through trauma and recovery while spreading awareness and education throughout our communities." The Dandelion Project
Many people see a dandelion as a w**d. I've always seen a wish waiting to be carried on the wind. Meet Kerri, the friend who started it all.

Why a Dandelion?
Many people see a dandelion as a w**d.
I've always seen a wish waiting to be carried on the wind. And so did my daughter.
Dandelions are resilient. They grow in unexpected places, weather difficult seasons, and continue to spread seeds of hope wherever the wind takes them.
That's why the dandelion became the symbol of both The Dandelion Project and The Dandelion Friends.
What does a dandelion mean to you?

Why "The Dandelion Project"?
People often ask how The Dandelion Project got its name.
The answer is simple: because a dandelion doesn't grow alone.
A single dandelion releases hundreds of seeds into the wind. Some land nearby. Some travel far away. Each one carries the possibility of new growth, new beauty, and new life.
Hope works much the same way.
A kind word.
A shared story.
A helping hand.
A moment of understanding.
What may seem like a small act can have a lasting impact on someone else's life.
But there is another reason we chose the word Project.
A project is something that is built over time.
It begins with a vision, grows through dedication, and becomes something greater through the support of many people working together.
The Dandelion Project was never meant to be just one person, one program, or one event.
It is a collection of seeds planted by countless people:
Families sharing their stories
Volunteers giving their time
Donors supporting our mission
Community partners opening doors
Children finding comfort in a book
Individuals discovering hope after loss
Together, those seeds grow into something much larger than any one of us could create alone.
Every act of kindness, every shared memory, every conversation, and every connection helps spread hope a little farther.
That is the heart of The Dandelion Project.

Project and The Dandelion Friends.
We had such a special day today at Reflections Grief & Wellness's 3rd Annual Butterfly Release.
Today was the very first time The Dandelion Friends had a featured table at an event, and what a wonderful experience it was. Old friends reconnected, new friendships were made, and together we honored our children and loved ones.
The first Dandelion Friends event was a success! We sold books, met new families, shared DJ's story with the community, signed copies for readers, and learned valuable lessons for future displays. Most importantly, we had meaningful conversations about hope, healing, grief, resilience, and the inspiration behind The Dandelion Friends.
One of the most special moments of the day was meeting children who connected with the characters and stories. Knowing that these books are finding their way into the hands and hearts of families makes every step of this journey worthwhile.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, shared your stories, purchased a book, entered the raffle, or simply took a moment to learn about The Dandelion Friends and The Dandelion Project.
Today reminded us exactly why we do what we do—planting seeds of H.O.P.E., one story at a time.

We are here at Sunshine Park in Altamonte Springs for Reflections Grief and Wellness 3rd Annual Butterfly Release. Come out and see us!!
Most people look at a dandelion and see a w**d.
We see hope.
A dandelion grows where others cannot. It pushes through cracks in sidewalks, survives harsh conditions, and blooms brightly despite the obstacles around it. It is resilient, determined, and impossible to overlook once it begins to flourish.
When the flower turns to seed and the wind carries it away, something remarkable happens. What appears to be an ending is actually a beginning. Each tiny seed carries the potential for new life, new growth, and new possibilities.
Hope is much the same.
After loss, grief, trauma, or hardship, it can feel as though everything has changed. Yet hope has a way of taking root in unexpected places. It arrives through a kind word, a shared memory, a helping hand, a new friendship, or simply the courage to take one more step forward.
The word H.O.P.E. holds a special meaning for The Dandelion Project.
H.O.P.E. was Kerri's favorite acronym: Hold On, Pain Ends.
After losing Kerri, we found ourselves reflecting on those words often. As anyone who has experienced profound loss knows, grief is not something that simply ends. We do not stop loving the people we have lost, and because that love remains, a part of the pain remains too.
What we have learned, however, is that while grief may never fully leave us, it can change. The sharp edges soften. We learn to carry it differently. We find ways to smile again, to remember with love, and to move forward while still honoring those we miss.
That is why, at The Dandelion Project, H.O.P.E. became:
Hold On, Pain Eases.
Not because we forget.
Not because the loss disappears.
But because healing is possible.
Like dandelion seeds carried on the wind, hope travels farther than we can see. It moves from one heart to another, planting small reminders that we are not alone, that love continues beyond loss, and that even after life's strongest storms, something beautiful can still grow.
That is why the dandelion became our symbol.
Not because life is easy, but because it is resilient.
Not because grief ends, but because hope remains.
